Hey joezimmer,

Travelling is no problem as you are applying outland - you are free to travel as much as you want during the process, so no worries.
If you were applying as common-law it might have been difficult to prove that you have lived 12 months without interruption, but if you are married then there is no issue. As long as your wife qualifies for sponsorship and you have sent proofs of your relationship, your marriage certificate and explain why you spend so much time outside, then it should be fine.
Chances of interviews for US/Can couples are very slim, so most likely you won't have to go to a VO.
AS you are from a visa exempt, they won't ask for your passport anymore (since december 2011), they will ask for the photocopies and issue the COPR on a separate sheet, so it won't be a problem for you to travel.

I will update my timeline with you guys, however, i have something to ask.

1. We sent application in Feb to CPC-V(wrongly) and in May CPC-V forwarded it to CPC-M and returned the package since its not the updated forms. My hubby got the UCI but when he checks online, it says the UCI exists. Does that mean our application has not processed yet?

2. He is now Student and last 4 months he was in Vietnam with me as student too. However, he has spending money on this credit card and its minus some thousand dollars. Should he clear his "debt" before the officer touch our application? btw, he is from Quebec, so there is no need to prof his financial abilities. But a credit card debt....? what do you guys think?

i know i have so many questions. some more will come

Hi there,

1. I would say that you got a UCI number because they started to look at your application. However, when they realized that the forms were not correct, they sent it back without processing it. So the UCI is probably just his basic info (name and the fact that they sent back your application). They have not processed your application but will use the same UCI when you send it back (enter this UCI in the form, if asked for it)

2. The VO would have no way of knowing about his credit card debt unless he told them. So I would not worry about clearing it. All he will have to show is that he has some funds to support himself if he is ever asked, and this can be in the form of a bank account or something.... no need to go into details about your credit card debt or anything like that.

In October I'll be applying for an extension, so when I get that, I'm still a little leary of leaving, just because I don't want to loose what time I get for my extension. Am I incorrect in this thinking??

Hey Tullysgirl,

you're correct. As soon as you leave the country, you will loose the extension, and you will start a new "visitor time" next time you enter the border.

For your application - sorry to hear that you couldn't send it, but then you can start a brand new September Thread and have a spreadsheet etc! and you will have already so much knowledge, you can advise people in the other thread too! and of course - you can follow here as well..

I have to admit I tried to log in to ecas with my previous UC #. Even though I knew the chances of being successful were nil, I still was disappointed... : I have to be stronger from now on and just try to sign in every 3 weeks or so.

I'm wondering this as well, but I'm guessing there are several different emails that these get sent from.
