It's crazy how it's so different. The lawyer told us that some visa officers will accept only certain ones apostilled and others make you have all of them done. I guess it's not worth the risk or time if its 620 pesos per paper to have apostilled.

There's no harm in doing it to all of them! Better to give them more and keep them happy lol

my husband and I met in July, and married in December. So Don't be too worried. He's in Canada now, with me. He did have to do an interview, and the process was long and grueling. 14 months, but worth every second of the wait. Just be patient and thorough with all your paper work.

Hey there!

I am glad I found this and am hoping for some help maybe

I am from Canada and married my husband from Dominican in July 2016. We are preparing all of our stuff now and hoping to have it sent in within the next couple of weeks.

I am a little scared as we met each other in October 2015 and married July 2016 but I have been there 5 times in between and of course we talk everyday. And hey there's no timeline of love and relationships right?! I am just worried they will question that.

Also, we have an incredibly hard time reaching the Physicians office for the medical in Santo Domingo. They never answer. And when they do we have been told different things. Like one said the cost is $200usd and another $260usd.

Anyone have an help they can offer? Thanks

I must say, my husband has been here since April, and he really struggled to find a decent job! He speaks great English, and got extremely lucky because he met the right person one day, an owner of a construction company, who offered him a job on the spot! He also thinks that 10 degrees is freezing cold, :9 I cannot wait to see the winter. We live in southern Alberta and we are no strangers to the -40s! I haven't been on this forum forever, how are every one else's spouses adjusting?? My husband had never been to Canada before, so he had no idea what to expect!

Thats awesome!!

My husband is adjusting well, since he got to visit during the winter he is semi prepared for this winter. But he has found it interesting to actually see the seasons change!

He got lucky finding a job pretty quick... He works in a Dominican Barbershop! He was a barber in Santo Domingo, its something he loves so he is really loving it.

Sooo anyone in the Toronto area with a Dominican husband in need of a haircut? Haha

Where abouts in Toronto?!?! My bf is looking for a barber. He went to plaza latina but wasnt impressed

Just around the corner from Plaza Latina... 2400 Finch Avenue. Its in a plaza, and the barbershop is right beside "De Place Restaurant and Bar". It's easy to miss because it's not really advertised but there are always Dominicans outside or the music playing!

They are usually only open Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Its a very Dominican kind of barbershop, nothing fancy but great guys who work there! My husbands name is Freilin (or goes by Flaco), he doesnt speak much english but is a great barber :)

Awesome!! Ill pass this on to him next time hes in town. Hes back home playing baseball. Tha k you so much!!

My husband has adjusted really well! It's almost like he has been forever sometimes! He got a job in a Dominican barbershop and absolutely loves going to work! He is a little disappointed that it is already getting cold, he thought he had a good month left of decent weather. He is having flashbacks to when he visited last winter and already dreading the winter. But other than that, he loves it. It feels so good to have a life together here!
