They asked for my husbands passport on August 23th and i sent it all on August 25th with Fed Ex so now i'm just waiting for the passport to be sent back. They didn't ask for any interview for us and the entire process took us 9 months and 3 weeks and also i got VV for my husband so he's in Canada right now and can't wait to go to the border and make him a PR already :) :) :)

5 months just to be told to do new pics!? that's ridiculous!
my friend had the same thing happen to her, but they were advised 2 months after her husband got here that they needed new pics and then another 2 months to get the card.

some how we got lucky! my husband got his like 7 weeks after arriving

Hey there!

I am glad I found this and am hoping for some help maybe

I am from Canada and married my husband from Dominican in July 2016. We are preparing all of our stuff now and hoping to have it sent in within the next couple of weeks.

I am a little scared as we met each other in October 2015 and married July 2016 but I have been there 5 times in between and of course we talk everyday. And hey there's no timeline of love and relationships right?! I am just worried they will question that.

Also, we have an incredibly hard time reaching the Physicians office for the medical in Santo Domingo. They never answer. And when they do we have been told different things. Like one said the cost is $200usd and another $260usd.

Anyone have an help they can offer? Thanks

The medical in Santo Domingo is $200 usd. You don't need to make an appointment, you just go and it's first come first serve. I believe they stop taking people around 11, so go early like 7am

It is a life saver for sure! Feel free to ask anything else! My husband finally has his PR and has been here a couple of months so we have been thru the process. It is so much easier when you have people to talk to who have been thru it all!

Did you get your passport back yet?
If so how long did it take from (a) the embassy's receipt to the embassy giving to Fedex, and (b) to getting it back in your hands?

My wife did two sets of medicals.. once at the time we filed the application and the next because we were over 12 months when CIC finally requested the medicals. Hopefully CIC will be faster now... but I would get your application in asap and don't delay to get the medicals... you have to decide if you want to wait a bit.. perhaps don't get medical until they acknowledge receipt of the Application (that took a month in my case) ....or may be after they approve you as sponsor ( that took another month)..or after they advise the file has gone to the embassy in Mexico where this gets reviewed even though it is DR ( which took another month) ... the next time I heard in respect of the application review was in the 14th month after I sent in the application, which was over 12 months after I was approved as sponsor.. then because we were outside the 12 month, CIC required another medical etc... apparently time-line for processing is speeding up, so maybe no longer a concern, but had I known (had I been on this site earlier) I would have waited at least until after they advised that the file had been sent to the Canadian Embassy in Mexico, which took 3 months month to receive after I submitted it.
I had mistakenly thought getting the medical done right away would be efficient... became problematic because my wife became pregnant in the 10th month after we submitted, and notwithstanding ZIKA Virus concerns, nothing I could do could speed it up. Then when they finally got to the file, we were over 12 months and CIC wanted another medical with X-rays.. and CIC then said we could wait ( which would delay the file until next year), for Xrays because of medical concern on x rays and prenatal baby... just saying. Had i waited the 3 months and got the medicals done , we would have been in the 12 month range... just saying... but i hear CIC is speeding up, so maybe it is not a problem now... still I doubt it will take less than 6 months so.... decide.

Also in terms of getting the medical done, my wife called in and got an appointment the next day. likely showing up is just as good....wasn't an issue.... likely they like the income...
