my husband and I met in July, and married in December. So Don't be too worried. He's in Canada now, with me. He did have to do an interview, and the process was long and grueling. 14 months, but worth every second of the wait. Just be patient and thorough with all your paper work.

That's awesome he is here! I just returned from Dominican with alllll the papers. Just waiting for my tax return paper so I can send everything to CIC. So exciting but so nerve wracking! It's nice to read what others have gone through. I hope it's not too long but I know not to expect too much. I know they have been a little more faster...... maybe?! Everything will be sent by the end of November and then the waiting begins

Hi Miss Sauce. Do you recall when you received notification of an interview? How many months in?

I'm in a similar situation.

Met my husband in Feb 2015 through mutual friends, started officially dating in Sept 2015 and married in December 2015. Application received by CIC on Jan 25, 2016. (in other words...quick!)

The last we heard from CIC was Aug 3 -- they requested 2 additional documents and payment of RPRF. I'm trying to get a sense as to whether or not we will have an interview.

Thanks for any insights!

Thanks God, a dominican post!, there is any whatapp group or facebook group of dominican? i need all the help and information possible!

My husband had an interview... We found out about 9 months into it that he would be getting an interview.. And was actually given a date for the interview 13 months after applying. They gave him 1 months notice for the interview.

Wow. So you found out you were going to need and interview, but you didn’t even receive a date until 2 months later?

Do you recall what the processing time was at the time you applied? Approx?

The processing time was around 14 months. We applied in December 2014 and I had ordered notes in August/September 2015 and found out he was getting an interview. We got the email with the date in January 2016 and his interview was February 2016.

Thanks - this is helpful. Did you end up getting an additional documents request by chance?

We didn't ever get anything requested.

My husband is also dominican. We married last Spring, however we only started filling his application last month.
It is nice to see others experiences on here as well. It sure seem to be harder on some and easier for others.
During the time he awaits on processing for his sponsorship, we are hoping we can file for him to visit here to canada, is that process long as well?

Thanks for any info

I would love to know that process as well. If we can apply for him to visit ( my hubby). I just got back from Dominican with all the papers. I am just waiting now for my tax paper so I can send everything in. So excited but nervous too! We met last October, married in July of this year. It's nice to be able to chat with people who have gone through the process or are going through it with you :)

I too requested an updated paper for my taxes to show its paid up
I didnt get a normal assessment letter though! Just an Income tax information letter that shows all my returns have been assessed from 2012 until 2015
And debit bal says no, refund intercept says No, family orders and agreement says No
Set Off also says no

It shows my marital status

Very odd but fig it should be good!

Hello,

Are some of you from Alberta or are going to move to Edmonton.

If everything go alright me and my wife will move to Edmonton in 2017 and would be great to have some Dominican friends over there

You can apply for a visitor visa but you really have to prove that he will return back to Dominican.

They are processed quick.. You get an answer within a couple days
