Handy tip for those flying back to Canada for the first time with PR Card

Good to know!! You must have been freaking out, I know I would be!

    INLAND APPLICATIONS 2015

When did you submit the extra documents? I think if you're missing something, they set your whole application to the side. There's a deadline for the information to be sent back to them (60 days or whatever), and they revisit your file on that day to figure out if they got your document or not...

AUGGHH!!! Venting thread re: Photos and Permanent Residency Card

We didn't have to send a passport because my husband is from a visa-exempt country (Austria). The lady at the landing appointment said she thought the photos were fine... if only she were the one processing the card!! Oh well. We mailed it away today with fingers crossed that his PR card...

AUGGHH!!! Venting thread re: Photos and Permanent Residency Card

It seems like they changed the requirements back in April (at least, that's the date on the bottom of the pdf we got this time) but were sending outdated PDFs to people with the wrong information on them through the landing interview email. Has your husband received his card already? Hopefully...

    Inland Landing Calgary

I'm not sure that you can choose which landing office your appointment is in - we just got an email once approved that told us where to go (the closest visa office to us). Hopefully someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but we didn't get to choose which office we used. The email has all the...

AUGGHH!!! Venting thread re: Photos and Permanent Residency Card

ARRGGHHH you guys I am ready to explode right now! I just needed to let this out. I'm so frustrated. My husband got his permanent residency on June 30th of this year. We provided photos that were exactly as specified in the email we got for our landing appointment. Today (his 30th birthday no...

Confused on which country to get married

It doesn't matter where you get married, as long as it's legally binding! Get married wherever you like, but plan to have your family members attend if at all possible. They want to know that the marriage is legitimate (not done for immigration reasons) and that your relationship is known to...

New Canadian Immigrants Club - Social.

It's pretty awful to be honest - a HUGE chunk of my friends are unemployed at the moment and have been since the crash hit. Lots of guys collecting EI. Honestly, I think that most of them should have prepared better for the crash (you can't expect to make 75k+ per year in an unskilled market...

Sure! I'm the sponsor, not the applicant, but my hubby just landed 2 weeks ago :) We're in Alberta, how about you??

    INLAND APPLICATIONS 2015

Basically, they won't approve your application until they have all of the required documents (medical, police checks, etc etc). It's strange that they didn't send you a medical request at the same time (since you say you never sent one at all) - ours came with the AIP email. I'd arrange a...

    Proof of Relationship

It's pretty unusual (in Canada, at least) to meet a person then marry them a month later. At that point most Canadians are still in the "getting to know each other" stage and haven't even decided whether the relationship is exclusive or not yet. Was it an arranged marriage? Why did you marry so...

Is it OK if the sponsor provides proof of communication?

In that case, I wouldn't draw unnecessary attention to it. It's really not a big deal - worst case scenario is that you'll be asked to do an interview in which case you can just explain things like you have here. That's if they ask at all, which is unlikely.

Is it OK if the sponsor provides proof of communication?

Don't worry! Depending on how much proof you provide, they'll likely just skim it anyway. If it makes you more comfortable, include a note at the beginning that explains that the texts were exported from your phone so all "incoming" messages are from the sponsor, not the applicant. I don't think...

    INLAND APPLICATIONS 2015

Hi, everyone!! So, as of June 30th, my husband is officially a permanent resident of Canada! We celebrated at a family reunion over the holiday weekend :) His first full day as a permanent resident was our 2nd wedding anniversary! Landing was really quick and easy. We didn't get a "decision...

Can someone walk me through the landing process and what happens afterward?

Awesome, thank you so much! It might be just another thursday for the officer but for us, it's finally the end of a seriously stressful process. We're so happy!

Can someone walk me through the landing process and what happens afterward?

We've got our landing appointment on Thursday in Calgary. We applied inland. We didn't get a "decision made" letter or any update on ecas, so I'm assuming it's safe to assume he was approved, since they scheduled a landing interview and not a "doubts about your relationship" interview? Can...

    medical exam

Are you applying inland or outland? It's recommended to do your medical upfront and send the paperwork with your application, to avoid any delays in your processing. If you are applying outland, it's a requirement on the checklist so you must send it. Sometimes, however, they will take longer to...

    Confused about payments - URGENT

Yeah - I was so shocked too! They seem to have made 2 streams of inland apps for some reason, and the people in the middle of the year got shafted :( So I'd reccomend applying in the beginning or at the end of the year rather than in the middle, if this is a trend that continues.

Awesome! Thank you guys so much, this forum has been so helpful throughout the whole process. I'll definitely be sticking around to help others through the process too.

    INLAND APPLICATIONS 2015

Basically it means that you've made the PR official, at least that's the way I understand it. Once we do that appointment on Thursday, my husband will officially have "landed" in Canada as a permanent resident! From there we just wait for the card to arrive in the mail (hoping Canada post's...
