    Confused about payments - URGENT

Also, does my husband officially land on the day of the landing interview (the 30th), or do we need to go to a border again after that?

    Confused about payments - URGENT

We got our landing interview email today, and they booked us in for 3 days from now, so we're scrambling to get everything together. We applied inland. The email mentions the right of permanent residence fee, and we can't figure out if we paid it already. The receipts don't show any details for...

    INLAND APPLICATIONS 2015

OMG you guys!!! We got the landing interview email today! :o Our landing appointment is on June 30 - the irony of my husband's first official day as a PR being Canada day (and our wedding anniversary) isn't lost on us :) I'm so happy! Hopefully this means great things are coming for everyone...

Can a spouse be refused on medical grounds?

This doesn't impact me specifically but I'm curious! Can a spouse be refused based on failing the medical? If not, why do they insist on a medical at all (especially re-medical, which was an annoying delay in our application)?

Denied Work Permit and Red Flag

I understand you're frustrated, the situation sucks, but there's no need to get so defensive. We can only go off of the information you've given and what the CIC website says. Hopefully your MP will be able to help more.

    INLAND APPLICATIONS 2015

Something is wrong with the math in the inland app spreadsheet - I'm not sure what happened in the last few days but the average times are off! Can someone take a look at it?

Denied Work Permit and Red Flag

Are you sure? I was just going off of the information found here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/inadmissibility/who.asp They say that failue to comply with any provision of the IRPA is grounds for inadmissability, and include a footnote (number 4) that lists "permanent residents who...

How many conversations from facebook in a month for proof of communication

Don't over think it too much! They just want some proof that you have been in genuine contact with each other on a regular basis - on different dates over a period of months/years. Just give them enough that they can see the relationship is genuine. My husband and I included conversations from...

Denied Work Permit and Red Flag

I highly doubt that this red flag will affect your husband at all at this point, since he has already been granted permanent residency. A failed work permit in the past will not keep him out of Canada - he is a legal resident now and as long as he doesn't commit any serious crimes and follows...

The UCI for the sponsor and applicant are different, but the file number is the same. Next time, just use the file number! It's the one that is F000xxxxxxx

    INLAND APPLICATIONS 2015

Hey everyone - our ECAS was finally updated today to show they received the new Medical. If there was a problem with the medical exam, the doctor would have called us right? Are we safe to assume everything was good since we didn't hear from them? Also, if they wanted an RCMP check, would...

Can we talk about condition 51? (Discussion)

I totally get where you're coming from. I was in a very abusive relationship once before I met my husband so I can definitely empathize. If my abuser had the option of threatening to deport me if I spoke up, he would have used it, and I would have been afraid (though, I was already afraid to...

    INLAND APPLICATIONS 2015

Does anyone know, would they have requested an RCMP check at the same time as the medical if they needed it?? Or do they request additional documents one at a time (that's awfully inefficient)? Someone mentioned earlier that they seem to be requesting RCMP checks for all inland applicants, but...

Can we talk about condition 51? (Discussion)

Wow - leave it to an artist to come up with such a powerful symbol :) The important thing is that she managed to get people talking about this problem. It would be a shame to lose the progress that was made. I've been very happy so far with the decisions Trudeau is making, and I did vote for...

Can we talk about condition 51? (Discussion)

I'm curious how everyone here feels about condition 51 on spousal permanent residents (the 2 year cohabitation requirement to keep PR after landing). Personally I think it's a great idea and I'd be sad to see it go - it's one of the only things that exists to protect the Canadian sponsor from...

Is it harder for women to sponsor their spouse?

Why is that sick? It's a spousal sponsorship - you are immigrating to Canada for no other reason than to be with your spouse. If the relationship breaks down, you have no reason to stay in Canada anymore. Spousal sponsorship is not meant for people who are just trying to build a better life for...

    Development of your relationship

We wrote up a timeline describing how our relationship developed on a separate page - there's just not enough space for it all otherwise! Then in the space provided we wrote "see attached page for details". It's not suspicious to apply outland if you live together - many people do that because...
