Thanks for responding. Guess I should stop worrying so much. Congrats on your AOR. :)

Spouse living in Canada - Do we need to live together?

What country are you from? It may be in your best interest to apply outland regardless; the processing times are much faster (depending on your country).

Question about form IMM 5532 Part C Question 7

The CIC doesn't know who is important to you, though. If you leave those people off, it will mean nothing to them. It is better to put information that will not potentially be confusing to CIC. Ultimately it's up to you, but that particular form/section of the application is designed to list...

Question about form IMM 5532 Part C Question 7

Then these probably are not the best people to include on your application. This will be confusing for CIC when they review your dates. You should be including family and friends who previously only knew you, or only knew your spouse; then met you or your spouse SPECIFICALLY BECAUSE of your...

Thanks starnaenae. I agree that it doesn't make sense at all! But, there have been multiple people who have posted in this thread who got theirs returned due to the NOA. Fingers crossed my app will be okay. Glad yours was accepted and is going smoothly!!

    MARCH 2017 *OUTLAND SPOUSAL APPLICANT*

Congrats! That's reassuring. Did you include an explanation letter of why you didn't have the 2016 NOA, though? From what I've seen, it seems like the people who included an explanation letter aren't getting theirs returned, and the people who didn't include one are (sometimes) getting theirs...

    US outland applicants' thread :)

I guess I didn't realize there was an expiration on the police certificate. The one I received (from a channeler) does not have an expiration on it. It's from October 6th, 2016. Does this mean I should be getting a new one, considering I only just submitted my application in March? This whole...

    MARCH 2017 *OUTLAND SPOUSAL APPLICANT*

Well, since we submitted our 2015 notice of assessment with no explanation, PLUS the use of a representative form situation that I tried to fix already, looks like my application will be sent back to me a second time. I'm so frustrated. My husband is self employed and doesn't receive his notice...

Hey just a quick question about the Generic Application Form [IMM0008]

You do understand that after you become a PR, you can legally work, right? You have to apply inland if you want to receive a work permit BEFORE you become a PR. This will take 4-5 months just to receive the work permit. Whereas applying outland takes 5-6 months for the ENTIRE process. So it will...

Hey just a quick question about the Generic Application Form [IMM0008]

If you are applying for a work permit, that means it's an inland application, right? If so, you should put your Canadian address as your residential address. You are required to be within Canada to apply inland and for the OWP. If it's an Outland application you can still use the Canadian...

help please .... paperwork returned from Mississauga twice!

You pretty much have to rely on CIC to tell you why it was returned. Typically, they will include a letter and mark or highlight the form you were missing on the letter. Did they include a letter like that in your most recently returned application?

Certified True Copy - Marriage Certificate

It is my understanding that copies of marriage certificates, birth certificates, etc. only need to be certified if they are NOT in English and are accompanied by a translation (which also must be certified). If they are in English, it is my understanding that a regular photocopy suffices. Can...

Notarized Letters - What does this mean?

Whenever I see people on this forum talk about submitting letters from their family vouching for their relationship, they almost always mention the letters being notarized. I think it's considered best practice.

Notarized Letters - What does this mean?

I'm not sure if notarization works differently in the UK. In the US and Canada, it's the process of having a notary officially certify your documents as legitimate. Here is a list of notaries in the UK: https://www.thenotariessociety.org.uk/ Your Canadian spouse's family, for their letters...

Spousal sponsorship - Notice of Assessment or Option C ?

Given that the new checklist specifically asks for the Notice of Assessment, I would attach that, plus the Option C if you have access to it and want to provide additional documentation.

    Will my app get returned?

If your app got returned, it would be because you did not meet the requirement of providing at least one document from at least three of the categories listed on the application. You can find this on the checklist. The six categories are: - Joint property ownership/joint names on lease (you did...

Linking gckey to app before aor

It doesn't mean anything. It means there is no application on file as of right now. I know we sent our application in at the same time; you can't reasonably expect to get your AOR until at least the end of this week or the beginning of next week. And 99% of the time you can't link your...

    PR Application got returned

Your fee is refunded if your application is denied/rejected, which is not the same as having it sent back to you as incomplete. If the application is sent back because it is incomplete or incorrect, they keep the fee and assume you will send back the corrected application.

Congratulations, very exciting! Question for you about your car. Did you do the crossing in your car? Or is your car currently in Canada and you left it at home while you did the crossing? Or is it still in the states?
