The whole point of an LMIA is to proof that you looked for a Canadian or Permanent Resident to do the job, so you have to advertise... I went through the LMIA process last year with my employer, I had been doing the job for 9 months so they obviously wanted to keep me and my permit expired...

Just was browsing the links via ECAs and noticed this: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/my_application/status.asp?s=1 It says that Client Application Status is updated on Tuesdays. I'm sure some people said their ECAs were changed to in process on other days of the week?!

Not entirely sure how the system works! I was reading another thread and someone got their PPR but their status for background check remained at Not Started for the whole of the process in fact he didn't get an update after meds passed, 3 months later got the PPR! The VO obviously didn't update...
