I think you are meant to due to tax reasons. Don't quote me on it though! Why would they assume you're leaving your job just because you got PR? Surely that would secure your position for longer if you choose to.

Exactly right, I got my Work Permit by crossing the border and they refused entry but should for good sake's order write 'flagpole' on the top. My Canadian boyfriend didn't bring his passport with him either as he expected to park on the Canadian side and I would just walk over and back again...

I don't understand why a company went through the LMIA process for you and only to give you temporary work? Haven't you got employment with them for at least 2 years?

That is a long time! I got my RPRF last week and my ECAS were updated this evening with Decision Made. I guess it's anything from a week to a month now maybe before I hear anything about PPR.

Ok so got some email from cic this afternoon saying my profile had been updated but no updates on mycic or ECAS. Thought I'd check before heading to bed and I've got Decision Made. Let the wait begin for hopefully PPR!

That's a really good question! I think technically you will have 1 year, but just not in the job you have your LMIA for. I think try and apply, if they reject your application at least you will know for sure rather than sticking it out for a year when you could have already got your PR...
