That's true. And it is very cool that the Peel police can do the fingerprints. That's one less thing to worry about.

Well, we sent hubby's passport on Friday. Now begins the wait for them to affix the visa and return it. He is very nervous waiting for it. I told him to relax :) The letter says that it takes from 1 - 2 weeks to process it if we do it via courier (versus in person- same day).

Ecas said "application received" and "we started processing your file" for the longest (since May). Then all of a sudden on Monday (July 30) it was updated with "medical results received". Someone on the forum said that once it said that, they were about to make a decision. And sure enough, we...

Another thought is that since every country has so many different intricacies in terms of required documentation and the processes to obtain these documents, it probably is impossible for lawyers to know every country. I think that most of the immigration lawyers are probably generalists in...

It seems that in this day and age with Google and the internet at our disposal, it seems more practical to not utilize a lawyer for many issues that can be researched on our own. But because they tend to want to make money off of the general public, many of them will employ scare tactics so that...

PR renewal, how easy is it? Can it be done early?

KJG, well it is not a question of not wanting to live in Canada. A person does not go through the trouble of paying all of the fees and the headaches of gathering all of the documentation without the intention of living in Canada. There are situations beyond a person's control that they must...

PR renewal, how easy is it? Can it be done early?

Can CIC really know if you have not been present in Canada for the 730 days? What if you are travelling back and forth on weekends, does this actually show up in their systems? What if you were present 550 days or 600 days? Will they squawk over that?

Seems that all of the airlines are doing it now. I was jokingly telling my sister that the next time I fly, I am going to wear all of my clothes at once to avoid these crazy fees, lol! Actually, maybe I wasn't really joking at all! :P
