Thanks. I think someone said that they are just coming back from summer vacations so I think this is going to be a big month for PPR's. I am sure yours will be coming very soon. You are at the tail end of the process right?

Yes, or at least that's what I'm hoping. In September it will be 3 years since I sent my PR application, after going through interviews, an appeal and a whole bunch of paperwork, I have already been approved and now they're working on the last details, so hopefully I hear something soon. :)

3 years !! That is just insane, it should never be allowed to take that long, even with an appeal ! You so deserve this to be over ! And Ms Romero too !! I think we will have a sigh of relief with you two when things are finally finished and you both are happily PR's !

Thank you all!

Yeah honestly when we first applied, we never thought it was going to take this long, the appeal was basically what screwed us over, because 1.- CIC never sent us the instructions to appeal until I threatened to file a complaint (Interview in March, appeal instructions received in September) and 2.- To get a hearing date it took 1 year and 4 months (appeal filed on September 2010, hearing date on January 2012), but hopefully it will all be over soon!

Every time I read about a PPR I get some hope back :)

thats worse than the process to go through a refugee claim!.
it shouldnt be allowed to take that long when the end result is going to be approved anyways!.
*fingers crossed* for you! 8)

Wow, I can't believe it took that long to get a hearing!! I was actually reading your posts from the bginning of this forum. I would have lost my S**T on that woman who interviewed you. Especially where she said that a woman's parents would sell stuff.. anything to go to the wedding!! How dare she represent the Canadian embassy and be so ignorant to the difference in cultures. It doesn't take much to see that family is much more important in Mexico, and are much closer. It's what I love about my new Mexican family. They have welcomed me with open arms!! I don't come from such a close family, like MANY other Canadians. Many live very independant lives from their families. We got married at City Hall in Mexico and I didn't invite my family, because they didn't have passports at the time, and it wasn't a big deal to me. And that better not be an issue for our application!! How have you and your wife been handling the process??

It was more a feeling of humiliation, like someone taking advantage because he/she is in a position of power, something quite Mexican unfortunately. I love my country, but I can see the negative points as well. The family issue was the same as yours. My wife's father is American/Canadian and had probation a while ago for something minor, but that made it very difficult to get a passport, and also the fact that they're not affluent so taking a week off work would've been very difficult for them. Ironically it took a Canadian (the hearing judge) to understand this. The guy was the most awesome person I've ever had the privilege of talking to, and if I knew how he looked like, I'd chase him down in Toronto to thank him and invite him to a Mexican restaurant :D lol.

I'm not gonna lie, it's been very difficult for us, especially because she's not here, she only travels here like 2 or 3 times per year and stays for a little over a month. When she's here everything is perfect, but when she goes back sometimes there are periods when were fighting all the time, all couples fight and have arguments, but I guess this whole thing affects us a bit more. In the end though I think this has also solidified our relationship and has brought us closer to one another. I mean hell, if we're able to pull through this, everything else is child's play, right? ;)
