i could only imagine!> my husband was only out of canada for 3.5 years and he is going through culture shock being back in mexico. its very different.
everytime we go to fancy areas or richer areas of cities he doesnt want to leave because hes used to that kind of areas in vancouver.
and he really doesnt like the food here anymore, he misses all the different asian cuisine in canada. haha

maybe he wont have to do an arc if its been one year since the deportation. i know of some cases of people who stayed illegal and after being deported for one year they didnt have to do the ARC, that would be very good news for you!.

thats true. at least now he will feel like hes a part of canada and welcome to live his life as he pleases. it will be amazing for him when he gets back! :D
we have alot of illegal friends in canada and i always hope they dont get caught because they have lives and families now. it would be so sad to see it torn apart :(

Yep we are hoping that he wont need an ARC since his one year ban will be over next week ! My hubby was the opposite with the food, he missed it so much and put on so much weight when he first got back, he got a serious taco gut lol ! We also know alot of illegals as well, its not a great way to live however its pretty easy in Canada to forget about status when you can so easily work full time and esablish yourself, which i think is generally the case, people just get use to life as an illegal until CBSA catches up with them.

Thanks everyone. We land in YYZ Thursday night.

Supposed to be leaving in two hours. No way my husband's suitcase will close - even with an elephant sitting on it. These Air Canada baggage fees are a killer too!!

I'll let you know all about landing and I'll be sticking around rooting for you all.

Hopefully your flight and landing goes (or is going) smoothly and stress-free and you get a chance to really enjoy the day :)

did your ecas ever end up changing??

Ecas said "application received" and "we started processing your file" for the longest (since May). Then all of a sudden on Monday (July 30) it was updated with "medical results received". Someone on the forum said that once it said that, they were about to make a decision. And sure enough, we got the email today with the PPR. I checked ecas just now and it says "in process" still and no further update.

Congrats!!!!!!!! ;D

hahaha!! thats funny because alot of our friends go back to mexico and get so chubby from all the food!!.
so everytime my husband talks to an old friend there always like "so how fat are you now" haha! but it was opposite for him. he lost weight here. pretty much the only mexican we eat is tacos, quesdillas, and sometimes homecooked food when his mom decides to cook for us which isnt to often haha. in canada we ate asian food almost everyday. chinese, japanese, thai, veitnamese, korean. so going from asian everyday to tacos.. was kind of boring for us.

well at least your husband is enjoying the food!! :D and has a nice comfy taco pillow you can rest on now ;)

yeah its very easy. all of our friends that got caught was because they didnt buy a ticket for a skytrain... something so simple. we kind of have a joke. if someone gets caught usually the word spreads by call or text and they just say "skytrain takes another mexican"
at least if they get caught they can go back to mexico and come back legally which is what most of them do anyways. i think its just a hard way to live always worrying about getting caught.
