For those that landed..was it difficult adapting?

I have been here in Quebec almost 2 years now, and I landed in May. Though I have lived in other countries before (for up to three years), moving somewhere permanently feels very different, which surprised me. I have found it challenging to make new friends because I have not yet started...

Visa In Passport BUT curious dates

I only had three weeks from the date I received it (in person at Buffalo). However the date of issue on the visa was actually the date I got the PPR email (which was about two and a half weeks before I went to Buffalo.) My deadline for landing was one year from the date of my medical exam.

traveling for work while outbound paperwork in progress

I think he and his co-worker had come by car, but I am not completely sure. That was at least ten or maybe more years ago, so I guess things could have changed since then. Maybe you could ask your boss to look into the regulations and potential need for permits to travel for work purposes?

    Thread for outland Buffalo applicants!

No, we sent the few originals that were requested and everything else was just a regular copy (nothing was certified by a lawyer.) Though if we had not gotten married in Canada, I might have certified the marriage certificate...but since we got married here in Canada, I figured they could check...

traveling for work while outbound paperwork in progress

I know someone who was sent to Canada by his US employer to do a one or two day work project of some sort, and he was turned away at the border for not having a work permit. (And about 10 years later, having long forgotten about that, he was questioned for about 30 minutes at the border when he...

    Demande d'engagement

We got a letter that started with the same first sentence, which was its own paragraph. Then our second sentence/paragragh said: "Nous avons le plaisir de vous informer que vous respectez les critères d'admissibilité comme répondant." After that it went on to say they had sent a copy of our...

Sponsoring my Wife that has Overstayed a US Tourist Visa

And I would advise searching on here for threads on things like "proof of relationship," "supplemental information," "supplemental documents," "application organization," "photos," etc, to get ideas and inspiration from what others have included. Good luck!

Certificate of selection from quebec, Questions!!! help

I can't find a "duplicata" anywhere on my CSQ, but I will say that it does look rather "unofficial" to my eyes- more like a regular print out. However, there is an original signature on there (in blue, on mine). (And for my own benefit, I added a post-it to mine to remind me it is the original...

will you be able to use your partner last name when you get married in canada

Marriage name changes are not recognized (or allowed) in Quebec even if the marriage and/or name change occurred in another location. However, if you meet the criteria for a non-marriage based name change, I guess that could be something to look into. But I think the criteria for name change...

    Thread for outland Buffalo applicants!

We sent originals only where the application requested originals (the medical form receipt and the police certificates). Everything else we sent was just a regular copy or color copy (not certified). My printer/scanner/copier can do color, so I used that for some things, like the copies of...

Visa recived but mistake on CPR please help

Yes, I was told that it is the "big things" that they want to make sure are right (country of citizenship, name) and the other stuff (eye color, in my case) can be corrected while landing.

    Thread for October 2010 Applicants

When I landed, they gave me a photo back too. I was worried about it, but I guess they only need that one to do the PR card. Congrats on getting your visa and hope your landing is going well!

    Thread for Outland, Quebec Applications!

Yes, it is best to send the FBI report with the application, as it is a required part of the application. And if you did send it without it, it being missing could hold it up later on anyways.

boomerang11, I think you will do fine and will make the adjustment, especially since you have the benefit of some French experience already. I assume you are moving to Québec? There are Francisation classes that you can take too, that will help in the process of learning more French. However, I...

Lost Original Medical Report Section- A

If you want to, you might be able to order another copy. I ordered that medical form after the actual appointment because they had only given me a receipt (not the outland form on the checklist). I had to send in 2 or 3 photos and maybe $30? You could always call and ask to see if that is a...
