Great, thanks :)

Also another question! While looking into making an appointment for a medical exam with a DMP, and I was confused to read on their documentation that they will mail the documents directly to the immigration department- what happens if CIC receives this information before I send my application package? I know there is form IMM 1017 (from what I understand, Copy 2 is obtained from the DMP following the exam, you do not have to bring it with you to the exam- please correct me if I'm wrong) which must be included in the application package, but is that all?

The reason I ask is that once I complete the medical exam, I will still be waiting on the police clearance/police certificate before sending my application package. Will it matter if the DMP office sends the medical results to CIC (or as their documentation states, "the Immigration Dept.") before I send my application package? Do I have to wait until after I receive police clearance to schedule my medical exam, so that I can be sure to send the application package before the DMP transmits their results?

Sorry if this is confusing- lots of information!
A little confusing and hopefully others confirm my answers. I am not sure of the exact logistics but your medical goes to a holding centre/assessment centre and stays there until the immigration officer receives your application with the medical receipt included and requests the medical results. Once your application finally arrives at your local visa office your e-cas will change to something like - "We started processing your application on Month xx, 20xx. Medical results have been received."

The IMM 1017 you will be given by the doctor after the medical and this is what you include with the application. Make sure you get it from the doctor.

Like I said, no problem doing the medical beforehand everyone does it, it's judging how far ahead I guess. I did mine in late November 2010 and sent my application in February. The medical lasts for one year. When you do get your passport request and get your passport back you must land within a year of the original medical date. (I have to land by late November 2011)

Thanks, that definitely answers my question. If any others with similar experience are able to confirm that would be great!

Hi - I am just getting ready to apply outland for Quebec immigration (we are both in the US, I am sponsoring my common-law spouse). I realize I have to send in the package to Mississauga first to get approved as a sponsor. The document checklist says I must send in the application with medical exam and police clearance. But the FBI website says that it takes 16-18 weeks to get the clearance letter. Do I have to wait for that to be completed and in hand before starting the application process? If anyone can provide me advice on what the order and timing of document submission is, such as when to get the medical in relation to the application for the police clearance etc. I would really appreciate it. I am reading on this site that these things expire, so I don't want to do them and then have to redo them in a few months. Thank you!!
Yes, it is best to send the FBI report with the application, as it is a required part of the application. And if you did send it without it, it being missing could hold it up later on anyways.

Sorry for the necro... ;)

But I am currently filling out the IMM 0008 (General Application). On Question 7, it asks Have you received your CSQ (yes, no checkboxes). If yes please indicate the number. If no, when did you apply for your CSQ? (yyyy-mm-dd)

I was under the impression (from a previous response in this thread) that I didn't have to send anything to MICC or apply for CSQ before sending the initial application, PR application and supporting evidence to Mississauga. Is that not correct? Can I just write "N/A" under when I applied for CSQ? Any help would be appreciated!

Yes, you are correct, you can just write N/A

You can only apply for the CSQ after your sponsor has been approved, because you need to attach a copy of the letter cic gives your sponsor (or email in some cases). I had the same question when filling up the form, and I believe I put N/A (not applicable) on my form which is the case for spousal sponsorship.

Since they now use a generic form for ALL types of immigration, that section may apply to skilled workers intending to go to QC because they need to have the CSQ before the federal process, which is not our case

I have a question, and I apologize if it has been addressed before. Is it possible to send the sponsor's documents and the pr documents (without the medical and pcc) to Mississauga, and then once sponsor has been approved and incomplete pr app sent to VO, then we can send meds and pccs? The reason why I ask is that the pccs from some countries are difficult to get and take a while, and I wouldn't want to hold the application back.

Another question is when sponsor gets approved, does Mississauga provide an identification number, or does the VO do that? I ask because you would need some sort of ID to update your file.

Thanks!

You can wait to do your medicals, in fact, once your file is sent to the VO, they may even request it. We did it all at once for convenience sake, but you can wait and once you do them, they are sent to your visa office directly. I don't know what you mean by PCC?

Once the sponsor is approved Mississauga is supposed to send you a letter or email which will contain the Client number and file number. Also, once the sponsor is approved you can obtain these numbers by calling the call centre.

I hope this helps

Unfortunately I understand you have to send ALL of those together with the sponsor app and your app. The best think would be to call CIC to clarify.

Good luck

Agreed, if you take a chance and send it incomplete they may actually send the file back to you. I would wait and send a complete file. At the very least I would make sure to have done my medical exam and gotten as many police certs as possible before sending it in. If you're waiting on 1 or 2 police certs, but otherwise sent all of them in I think it's more likely they'll go ahead with processing your application than if you don't bother to send any in with your initial app. Then once you receive the remaining police certs you can forward them directly to the visa office handling your application (once it has been forwarded by Mississauga).

Thank you both for the responses! One PCC is the FBI check which is simple enough, but one would be from Cuba which could take a while. The medicals are not an issue, but I know they are only valid for 1 year, so I was thinking of avoiding as much as possible doing another one. Appreciate your help....

I just looked at your timeline and I'm really confused. It looks like you're almost done this process. Why ask about police certs now?
