A little confusing and hopefully others confirm my answers. I am not sure of the exact logistics but your medical goes to a holding centre/assessment centre and stays there until the immigration officer receives your application with the medical receipt included and requests the medical results. Once your application finally arrives at your local visa office your e-cas will change to something like - "We started processing your application on Month xx, 20xx. Medical results have been received."RedSox502 said:Great, thanks
Also another question! While looking into making an appointment for a medical exam with a DMP, and I was confused to read on their documentation that they will mail the documents directly to the immigration department- what happens if CIC receives this information before I send my application package? I know there is form IMM 1017 (from what I understand, Copy 2 is obtained from the DMP following the exam, you do not have to bring it with you to the exam- please correct me if I'm wrong) which must be included in the application package, but is that all?
The reason I ask is that once I complete the medical exam, I will still be waiting on the police clearance/police certificate before sending my application package. Will it matter if the DMP office sends the medical results to CIC (or as their documentation states, "the Immigration Dept.") before I send my application package? Do I have to wait until after I receive police clearance to schedule my medical exam, so that I can be sure to send the application package before the DMP transmits their results?
Sorry if this is confusing- lots of information!
The IMM 1017 you will be given by the doctor after the medical and this is what you include with the application. Make sure you get it from the doctor.
Like I said, no problem doing the medical beforehand everyone does it, it's judging how far ahead I guess. I did mine in late November 2010 and sent my application in February. The medical lasts for one year. When you do get your passport request and get your passport back you must land within a year of the original medical date. (I have to land by late November 2011)
