So they are inviting people who have never received an invite for the test but not the ones whose tests got cancelled?
It not the case. Its mixed. Below link shows that the member received test invite earlier.
https://www.canadavisa.com/canada-i...hip-applications.610710/page-219#post-9026417

As we all know, its purely based on the officer at a location and we all know that they never processed the applications till today based on the received date, whatever the reasons it might be but they dont follow first come first serve even when there is no problem with the applications.

If you have not written the test yet then 6 months is not correct estimate. They are not having any plan to conduct tests. You should give 12 to 18 months. Every stage has delay - for test, for DM, For Oath, for getting citizenship certificate and for passport too.
If you have plans to travel outside in the next 1-2 years then you should renew. Its an additional expense and time in preparing documents but its less hassle if we have the travel documents ready.
Don’t quote unrealistic figures of 12-18 months. It’s not gonna take that long.
It will normalize by spring 2021 and they will try to speed up hopefully.

This was written when there was no plan was published for online test.

And still my statement is true. Pre-pandemic average for most is at least 9 months from AOR as only few guys finished with their process within 6-9 months from the AOR and rest took 9-12+ months to finish their process till oath.

They took 9 months when there was no backlog, when there was no pandemic, when there was no leave code 699 used.
Given the backlog, it will still take 9 months for both test and oath completion, 2-3 months for receiving certificate & passport processing, additional time delay of 3-6 months(to clear backlog).

I dont see that it will get over in 9 months even from today, after online test is announced. So it will still be 12 months minimum to get passport from today and for some it would take more than 12 months.

If they are fast enough then why would we have files pending just for oath when cic is just doing only the oath scheduling for the last 5 months and they have not cleared, even some of the 2019 test files are not cleared that are waiting for oath(and certainly they have not cleared lot of 2020 test files). Earlier people used to get citizenship certificate within 1-2 weeks but nowadays even thats delayed for many.

Hi folks
Just curious if anyone who has applied November 2019 received his/her test invite as yet via email or phone (as per the new developments to the process). I applied in November 2019:

Date application sent: November 12, 2019
Received in Sydney NS: November 16, 2019
AOR: Jan 2019

... and now waiting since then! It’s been over a year :/

Does not look like it. There seems to be some backlog before Nov 19 which hasn't been cleared.

Hi folks,

Thought I'd share my updates, as this group has always been a great source of relief for my mental anxiety on immigration processes.

I got my online test invitation last Thursday Dec 10, took the exam on Saturday and passed it with 100% score. Today I got an email from them asking for a ton of documents to prove physical presence in Canada, and a form consenting to use MS Teams for the virtual ceremony.

I'm currently working on getting all those documents, one of which is a personal health claim summary that takes 30 days, so will be replying to the email with everything but that one as they only give you 30 days to respond, and will include the confirmation email that I requested that claim summary.

My rough process timeline was:

Application sent on Nov 28 2019
AOR Feb 17 2020
Processing on Feb 24 2020
Test invitation: Dec 10 2020
Test taken and passed: Dec 12 2020
Request for additional documents: Dec 14 2020

Hope this helps, and that you all get your process moving again soon.

Best wishes and good luck

Hi @leoraf for the details. Can you confirm the form ID you received ? Is it the 0171 Also known as Residence Questionnaire? Some of the forms are randomly selected applicants which they call it program integretity whereas for the 0171 there might be a red flag in your residence.

Thanks a lot for sharing the information. Are you in GTA, Ontario (or) somewhere else? Thanks.

Hello, Is it a pre-requisite that the applicant has to be in Canada for attending the online test. I know it is mandatory for oath ceremony.

If we invited you for an online test, you
  • have 21 daysfrom the date in the invitation to take the test
    • If you need an extension, email the office that sent you the test invitation with your explanation.
    • Our officers give extensions on a case-by-case basis.
  • must be in Canada to take the test

Thanks for sharing.

Just wondering which city are you from? Did you request your processing to be tagged as urgent? This is good news!

Hi, There wasn't any form, other than the one about MS Teams. The full request for physical presence documentation was in the body of the email. I don't know if that is good or bad, I wasn't aware there was that step in the process, thought the follow up to the exam was the interview. One thing in the email that gave me some hope that it was a good sign was the MS Teams forms where they say it's to book the virtual ceremony. I don't think they'd send that at this point if there were any red flags, but fingers crossed.
