Hi. I received a letter saying the below:
" This refers to your application for a permanent resident card.
Due to the Canada Post Strike, IRCC has experienced disruptions to regular permanent resident card distribution by mail. We are temporarily offering clients the opportunity to pick up their permanent resident card in person at a designated IRCC office. If you do not wish to pick up your card in person, we will resume the practice of delivering the cards through mail early in 2025.
Your permanent resident card will be available for pick up on the following date between office hours of 8:30am – 3:00pm, from Monday to Friday..........
‘Last day to pick up : January 10th, 2025
Please be aware that our office will be closed on Dec 20th ,25th, Dec 26th and Jan 1st...."

Anyone else got? However, i am unable to go to pick up and I have no urgency. Based on what i highlighted in bold it is not mandatory for me to pick up right? I can wait till Jan for them to resume delivery right?

Please guide.
Hi can you please tell from which office you are told to pickup and which is your city of residence?
Thanks

Can you please also tell the date you received your ECOPR on?

As I talked to IRCC Call centre agent and I was advised to wait for few days for the pick up email. The agent said the card was mailed out on 13 Dec, but Canada post was on strike till Dec 17, so they are not sure if I have to pick it up or it'll be mailed.

I told the agent that I live in BC and in case I have pick up option, would it be a local address, or somewhere in Ontario as I heard only Sydney office prints PR Card, she said It should be a local office.

Waiting for my card as I have to travel in January.

My experience and intuition is that "it has been mailed out" does not always mean exactly that - i.e. IRCC officers hit a button or click a box 'mail that now' and the system shows that, but it does NOT seem to mean that the mail room has sent it, only that it is being printed, addressed/enveloped and instructions to mail room. (Obviously this is reading between the lines, so I cannot be sure it is accurate).

Therefore, as I said above: most likely those who have not received emails about pickup will probably have it mailed. And it's probably going to take a few weeks for Canada post etc to work things out in the system, with priority of delivering mail that is physically already in the system and getting in the way. (Large senders like IRCC may be making arrangements directly with Canada Post, eg to hold all mail for a few days).

My ECOPR WAS ON 12th november and got PR card mailed on 19th November. I spoke with the agent he said they will be sending pr card after 10th January.

From Mississauga, Ontario
And do you also reside in Missisuaga? I am just asking because I was advised by ircc you can try to go directly to the office to pickup cards even if you didn’t recieved email because cards are distributed to ircc offices as per area of residence.
Thanks

Hi,

I also received this email today even though my card was delivered to me a long time ago!

So, I guess now they are offering the option for pick up, which is good.
