PR Card Delivery during Canada Post Strike

So whats the solution now? I am not in urgency so cannot prove it. My last PR card application update in GC key was on Nov 16 which said it has been mailed and can take 6 weeks. Now after this what? I have not received any mail for pick up. What should I assume? Its with Canada Post and therefore panic about it being lost? Or assume its with IRCC since strike started on 15 Nov and just wait? I tried calling but no ones answering even after 7 minutes of automated selections. Just says try again later. Should i just wait peacefully or panic and raise webform to ask where is my card.
Please help. Anyone else who has got their PR card?

BTW the news on the strike is bad. Both are going further apart and Canada Post has said not to expect any resolution soon.
Write to/call your MPS to urge IRCC to make alternative arrangements for people to receive their documents.

The medical emergency is related to a family member back in my country. So, I used that and provided evidence.

I already got my PR card today.
Hi, please can you help here. when you received the PR card through fedex did you need to sign yourself to collect it or do they put it in the post box like canada post or can someone else also sign to receive it? Thanks in advance.

I had to sign my self. They won't leave it in the mail box since a signature is required. I don't know if someone else can sign instead of you (try to call Fedex and ask).

Could you please provide the number you were calling and menu selection? I am in a similar situation and not able to get anyone on the phone..

The number is: 1 888 242 2100

I do not remember the selections, but try to listen and pick the case where it says you would like to update your information, keep listening, then it will tell if you would like to speak to an agent press 0 (if I remember well). Then, you can request a callback from them when they reach your place in the queue (only inside Canada). They will surely call you back, so do not worry.

Hi. I received a letter saying the below:
" This refers to your application for a permanent resident card.
Due to the Canada Post Strike, IRCC has experienced disruptions to regular permanent resident card distribution by mail. We are temporarily offering clients the opportunity to pick up their permanent resident card in person at a designated IRCC office. If you do not wish to pick up your card in person, we will resume the practice of delivering the cards through mail early in 2025.
Your permanent resident card will be available for pick up on the following date between office hours of 8:30am – 3:00pm, from Monday to Friday..........
‘Last day to pick up : January 10th, 2025
Please be aware that our office will be closed on Dec 20th ,25th, Dec 26th and Jan 1st...."

Anyone else got? However, i am unable to go to pick up and I have no urgency. Based on what i highlighted in bold it is not mandatory for me to pick up right? I can wait till Jan for them to resume delivery right?

Please guide.

Based on the details you shared, it seems you are not required to pick up your PR card in person if you do not have urgency. Since IRCC has stated that they will resume delivering PR cards by mail early in 2025, you can choose to wait for the regular mailing process to resume instead of picking it up in person

The “last day to pick up: January 10th, 2025” indicates the cutoff for those opting for in-person collection, not a mandatory deadline for all applicants. If you are unable to go and have no urgency, waiting for mail delivery should be fine.

Thank you so much for corroborating!

Hi,

Is IRCC sending this PR CARD Pick up email to everybody?

If somebody doesn't receive this email, will IRCC mail their PR Cards in January?

Since the strike is now over, I would assume (until we hear otherwise) that anyone who hasn't yet received this email will not get one, and that their cards will be sent the usual way (by mail) when ready.

There may be exceptions - some urgent ones or other - but probably not many.

Even the ones who received this email, it's not mandatory for them to pick up in person. The mail says that if u do not wish then delivery will resume in early 2025.
