I am the original poster. The whole story is:
So, I first landed in Montreal with my wife on October 13th, 2024. The process was quick at the airport as we didn't have anything to declare or bring after.
On October 30, 2024, I received a notification on my email. My wife's PR was approved and they asked me to send a new set of photos since mine were rejected. I sent the new set with the letter received in the email to the provided address on the same day (October 30).
On November 21st, I received a notification that my application had been approved. When I checked my IRCC account, I could see that it had been mailed.
Due to the strike, I contacted IRCC on November 25th asking them how they sent the card and with whom since Canada Post is on strike. The agent told me that they are not sending out the cards but keeping them even if it shows on the website that it has been mailed. I asked him if I could send them a prepaid envelope or to go pick it up, and he said both were not possible!
He then told me the only possible thing right now is if there is an urgency. You would tell them about it and provide evidence. Then if they deem it so at their discretion, they will arrange to send the card with a different courier. For me, I have already contacted them before asking for the urgent processing of my application and provided evidence (medical-related urgency). I told the agent this and he said he didn't see any record concerning this on my file. I offered to give him the ticket ID so he could check, but he said he could not access it anyway.
So he just added a note to my case mentioning my urgency and didn't ask for any evidence. Then just told me to wait for the decision from the officers who process the cases.
On November 28th, I called IRCC again just to inquire if there was any update. A lady checked and she told me that she could see that my card had been mailed on the 28th. But there is no other information related to which courier or tracking. She said I should wait a day or two and then call again. Later that day, I received an email notification confirming that the card was mailed.
On December 2nd, I called again to get an update. Unfortunately, there is no update. So, all I have to do now is wait.
I will write an update here if I get the card.
