I don't think its fair to attribute bots to one particular party.
Those bots could have been associated with one or more state actor trying to stir up sentiments for their own geopolitical reason.
The thread was about one particular party. Conservatives. I am sure liberals also use these.

It might be unpopular to say this, but the last one i see Canada needs is people who are writing codes, which is part of the target list. This is one of most probable remote jobs. Unless their plan is to take application fees so that people move in, realise the cost of living, then move out after a couple years, i just don't understand why they need to be specially targeted because i assume a lot them will try to move US after couple years for much better pay (which is one of several jobs actually there is a huge pay difference. Most STEM jobs in US don't have crazy pay actually. they might be slightly higher, but not that high, which means it's much easier for Canada to keep these poeple). For AI workers, that might be a different story, but i'm not sure.
What is difference between AI and code worker? Both can work remotely. The reason Canada takes them in is because it will take them 5 years before getting Canadian passport and in those 5 years they will pay a good amount of tax. About min 20-30K per year or more in direct and god knows how much in indirect tax. in 5 years they would generate 150-160K per person. With 10,000 in take it is 1.6 billion dollars in 5 years. And they get atleast these many if not more each year. Not a bad deal at all.

Wow I'm amazed to learn that this is all Canada politicians cares about. But most of these new immigrant are not creating their own jobs right? I assume they often pushing out a higher priced Canadian person out, so isn't that a zero net game for the government in terms of taxes?

I'm not sure AI if requires hardware or not. It's very hard to do remotely if there is hardware involved,

I also hope the plan is not just to take 5 years of tax revenue. Not from pushing existing people out standpoint; I think they will have a much better continuous source of income and economic stability if they can get an engineer in and work for the rest of their lives in Canada. The long-term tax should be higher than whatever that 5 years is going to bring in.

Colleges and universities are not the responsibility of the Federal Government. They’re under the provincial government. What the Federal government controls is the issuance of visas and work permits. IRCC must either restrict the post graduate work permits to only those students attending universities or those who are studying specific courses. They must also cap the number of student visas issued as there’s currently no limit. What the liberals have done right now is that they have converted the student visa program into a temporary foreign workers program. This has resulted in an implosion of low wage and low skilled workers from Punjab, India. There’s also an underground human smuggling ring associated with this student program, which has resulted in a lot of criminal elements being brought into Canada from India using this program. That’s how lax it has gotten under the liberals. The CBSA are currently investigating and tracking the criminal elements brought into Canada under student visas. The damage this has done to the reputation of Indians in Canada in the past 4 years is enormous and if this program is left unchecked, Canadians could soon turn from being pro immigration into anti immigration real quick. It’s already begun.

A lot of higher paid tech workers are quite scared of the current PR systems, particularly bachelor graduate from top universities (ubc, Uwaterloo, uoft) as score wise they are losing against bachelor + post grad diploma holder on general draws even though the former are way more competitive in the job market than the latter. The EE system fails to account for this.

A lot of them have their pgwp expiring next year (thanks to public policy), some were/might be able to do an LMIA to get dat point but a sizable amount of companies won't do an LMIA to an existing worker (I know big banks wont)

With that being said, worst case, They could still work for a year abroad and get 510+ scores (assuming 2 yoe in Canada were attained and not losing on age). That's assuming the system stay as is which I wouldn't put much trust on given the election, too much uncertainty

I don't know what the solution is but for every 1 high skilled person from India there's like 5 lamdas. Their BO is really bad, they always stink in public transportation playing loud music.

Canada needs to Crack down on private diploma mills as well as ban them from attending community colleges. Only pathway is through University like US
What about Seneca college? I heard its top 10 in the whole world.

There is a shortage of health care workers, but where are the current healthcare workers going? To the United States.
Because the pay shortage is much much much worse than the worker shortage. Canada will never be able to fix its shortages if the fundamentals arent fixed first and the way I see it right now, even as a fresh off the boat immigrant, Canada is beyond broken in terms of affordability for middle class people.

There will be no cap of any kind anywhere, especially colleges. Ontario colleges have increased their enrollments by 240% over 7 years.

They need the students. I see landlords crying about students leaving for summer break in videos about real estate investment in university towns.
I see new immigrants gobble up housing and turning them into ghetto for students.
Canada's education business must be a large contributor to GDP, right after real estate. This issue will not be fixed, because fixing it means suicide pill.

What I assume and hope will happen is that students will just stop coming.
Getting the PR is tough, saving money is tough, getting a job is tough, housing is tough.
Only very skilled or really low skilled immigrants will be able to live in Canada. The middle class will take a massive hit.

Ontario could do whatever it wants but if the federal government caps student visas issued to the students from public or private colleges in Ontario, that would automatically put a stop to the huge influx of kids from India. A college cannot do anything if IRCC rejects a student visa. The backlash against international students is only growing and no party is stupid enough to ignore this for too long. The animosity against international students could soon turn into animosity against all immigration. No party in Canada would ever want something like that to happen. If a few private colleges go bankrupt and close down, nothing is going to happen since it doesn’t affect Canadians and no Canadian would ever study in those colleges. The affordability crisis is primarily due to the amount of temporary residents in Canada. The number is too huge. Slash the number of Temporary residents by 40% and viola, you will automatically see a huge improvement in affordability. With regards to your comments on healthcare workers, there will always be people from all professions going to the US for higher pay. The number going isn’t significant enough to cause a massive dent. The shortage is primarily because the college of physicians controls the amount of slots available for residency. They operate like a cartel and when you have too many people coming into the country within such a short period of time, you will never have enough healthcare workers. The shortage will only worsen with the amount of temporary residents coming in.

I'm dumfounded. I was a student in Australia, I studied when my age was mid 30's. Only reason I attended uni was because I got an MBA in Melbourne uni, a top 100 Biz Schools. I was on my career break vacation from my Big4 employer and I knew I could join them back. The reason I bring up this topic is, I remember Australia had very hard rules for those who finish college and work on post-study work visa. We were restricted in the area we could work etc...Employers had to report the accuracy of the work done etc before PR is approved..
Forget for now that I personally messed up my study based PR. I ended working in the wrong area outside the of scope of me getting PR via the student route. I did that because with my IT experience I earned a lot more, I felt I need to support my family needs. Also my employer promised to support my Work Permit based PR even if I lose the student pathway. However I realized later employers sponsorship meant nothing but only will make me wait in the ITA queue forever (easily 4-10 years) and with covid I simply lost hope and moved in my 3rd year.
But why I tell this is I'm surprised Canada has none of those checks and balances on student visa or post-study work visa being exploited which a country of similar size Australia has. Students shouldn't so easily exploit the system.

The numbers I gave were about tech workers and AI workers. Making six figure income is the norm and not the exception. There is indeed a lot politicians care about -- including increasing their vote bank.

But money is not bad too for the host country. Remember, Canada is like a socialist utopia -- at least in advertisements-- but then someone needs to pay the bills right? If you do not have enough babies, money can only come foreigners who work here.

As far as who is getting whose job is concerned, Tech industry is baised towards younger folks and till very recently was always in need of workers. Introduction of likes of LLMs for automated code generation might change it but it still takes many months to close an open position. During pandemic boom, my employer used to take up to an year to close a position.

Lambdas are not really Punjabi's fault. Its a problem that Canada needs to sort out itself. Diploma mills are local entities and ideally they should not exist. Punjabis see the chance at perceived better life and they jump on that -- that much is their fault. A very human thing to do. Cannt blame them for being human.

As far as stink and BO goes, well, thing is there is something to dislike about every community. Indians stereotypically got extra supply of ABCC11 gene in their DNA. East asian got their stereotypical bad driving. British got some really stereotypical bad teeth. Americans stereotypically need two seats on the bus to fit their gut. And lets not even talk about poor Jews... May be one day we will solve all these issues. Till then, we will have to tolerate each other.
