Haha That's funny. My husband wants to buy me long underwear and I'm a girl and I say:" What? I'm not wearing long underwear under my jeans, no no no"
but he insists, and I'm just visiting a week or two at a time.
Do you girls wear another set of pants/long underwear under your pants/jeans? :-X If you do, I'll consider it lol
I agree with Canooknic, better to have a pair or two kicking around than not. I wore them when I was young but being Canadian I have developed a pretty thick skin to the cold. :) I think you will appreciate them when the -30's and lower hit ;)

:D ok. I agree with you. I'll let my husband get me a pair of those as he's been "threatening" :p to get me a pair every time I visit. So far, he's got me a pair of thick socks (I could walk the moon with them).

It's long, so I won't quote the whole thing here, but it starts:

October 8th

We have arrived in Canada!!!. Finally!! This marks a new chapter in

And ends:

December 22

Dis TRINI moving back home TODAY before dis God forsaken,
kiss-meh-arse place done kill mih arse an finish mash up mih family!!!! If ah
ketch a flight, at least a could reach Port-of-Spain fuh Christmas and some
good liquors an Parang.

I lived in Houston, TX before i moved to Canada. This one time in 2009, i was at work and it started pouring (i mean rain). It started at around 10am...by the time it was 11.30am, my boss told me i am free to go home.
I was like, what do you mean? he said I don't want you to have trouble getting home. I said, what do you mean? He said Look outside..Lol....that was the best moment ever (especially since i moved to Houston from Indianapolis where it snows like a mother).
Your Houston boss said that?! I guess they were expecting the bayou to flood. I live just north of Houston and hate the lack of proper drainage....and deer.

I have been here since 2005 .. never seen snow in my life. my first year was fun and i was like omg snow .. until i fell right outside my house which was bad..
now i hate snow .. don't like winters .. only spring. I live in Calgary and wasn't here last summer but i heard it was really dry. I just love white Christmas though. Love the Christmas season .. not the cold or the snow when I have to leave my home.

Yes he did, and it made me so happy...cos i got to go home at 11.30am lol...Hey, you remember last year when the highways froze over for like a day or something (maybe it was just a few hrs) I remember reading online about 600+ accidents or so. It was sometime in February 2011. Search the net, and you will def find something :p

cheers

Hubby is from Arizona and every time he visited it was in the summer. Last year he stayed for 6 months and left mid November 2011. It snowed ONCE and he didn't feel too thrilled.
He has been here since May and there has consistently been snow on the ground for a week... he is getting used to walking on ice and hates snow flying in his face.... its a slow progress. :)

achander - I do remember that. That week I was in Italy (with my now hubby) so I missed all the action. My boss told everyone they had to come in and one chick lived in The Heights (office in The Woodlands), she refused and he wrote her up! Crazy, they even cancelled school! I grew up in Dallas and every year it snowed and every year everyone freaked out about it and the city closed down. Crazy Texans! :)

Once it gets past -20, it doesn't matter what you're wearing. It's going to be cold.........

I came via Atlanta and don't have a use for long underwear, even at -40. I get so cold, it hurts, but it's all temporary.

Also, if you paid $120 at Mark's, you got ripped off. Those same boots will be on sale for $80 on and off ;)

That's nothing. I spend 200 bucks on a NorthFace pair of boots :'( They aren't that warm as I thought.

At a certain point, it doesn't matter what you wear. It will be cold regardless.

The average indoor room temperature is too warm for me, so I can't dressed in layers or I will die inside. The best advice I can give for cold is to get used to it. Cold hurts, but people were living here for hundreds of years without heaters - and even further north - so it's obviously livable.

See,
No matter how they claim its warm, the fact is, its not. Just over spending from our side to keep ourselves cozy.
But honestly if anybody knows about good products please let me. Price doesn't matter as long as the quality is good.
