That means no music, nothing online, no selling artwork. My friend got caught babysitting during her inland app through some text messages, and even though she wasn't getting paid (they didn't believe her) they kicked her out of the country. They had to move to the US.

right?!?! I just decided against volunteering for places i found on foodwork.ca because even "volunteers" get free vegetables, and i don't want CBSA to think I am working in exchange for groceries if it ever came up somehow. hahaha

having to live in limbo sucks, so to me, going outland is the better choice. I will say it again, there is absolutely NO benefit for a US citizen to apply inland.

There's a US-Outland thread, a facebook group, and a CPC-ottawa thread. Feel free to join us! <3

I was originally going to apply Inland, because I was misinformed about the visa office/wait times as well. Really glad I switched to Outland.

And to answer your question, Americans have a really easy time getting approved. Don't stress it.. Marriage fraud isn't as common, so we have it a little easier. They are mostly just looking for marriage fraud, so make sure you include all your messages, skype calls, etc.. The more the better, and the less likely you will have to have an interview. The most common reason for an interview is because they are worried about the genuineness of a relationship, but for Americans interviews seem to be quite rare.

And yes, you need to follow the checklist - Your FBI record, and your Medicals done by a panel physician:) Along with all the forms.

Like I said, feel free to join us on the FB group or other threads:) We're all in the same boat as you! A lot of people sending their apps this week. I'm still putting mine together.. XD

and PS; Don't stress! It'll be fine:)

Thanks for the replies, everyone.
We are taking the outland route- so all the information is much appreciated.

I would love a link to the facebook group!

As far as the panel physician goes, how much is charged for that, generally speaking? We still need to get my FBI record done as well, but were told by a real estate agent we are working with that we are able to get it expedited, which is great. (Also unsure about the fee for the criminal record check as well, speaking of.)

the price of the medical exam depends where you are. getting it done in canada is cheaper than the states. the amount people have paid ranges from $200-400. To know for sure, you have to call the panel doctors available in the area you will be in.

As for the FBI record, i'm not sure what your real estate agent means about "expiditing" the results. CIC will NOT accept FBI records from 3rd party channelers, so don't even bother if that's what they were referring to. Here is the link with instructions to get it DIRECTLY from the FBI. It is not difficult to do. The current processing time is 28 days. It's $18, plus price of a set of fingerprints that must be submitted with the application.

Thanks, good to know.

Another thing I was just thinking about- as far as the record of our relationship, I.E. the call logs, messages, etc.
Regarding pictures- do they want actual prints of photos of us together, with info as to dates, occasions, etc -with them?

Meaning do I include an actual stack of our photographs together with this info with the application???

The easiest way to do the photos is to put them in a Word document, grouped into specific events or time periods. Ours ranged from around 4-12 pics per page; I titled each page, "Thailand, September 2009", "New Zealand 2010", "Christmas in Canada 2010" etc. I wrote little captions underneath many photos, "Us with sponsor's brother", "Xmas morning at sponsor's parents' house", "Snowplanet with friends John and Suzie" etc.

Given that you're American, you guys are married and you have now been living together for over 6 months, you can go light on the call logs, msgs, chats etc. Just include a few pages covering the time up until you got married.

Just to confirm what rhcohen2014 stated, someone on the forum sent in a FBI report from a channeler with their application and had CIC contact them that it is no good and they want the read thing:

You can laugh, but if babysitting for free can ruin your app, I think that's a "good call".

Okay, now that I am taking the Outland applicant option, I am filling out the appropriate forms for such.

I am the one being sponsored, and my husband is a Canadian citizen.
In regards to the Additional Family Information form, taking those factors into consideration, do we both need to fill out a copy of this form, or is just one from me all that is necessary. It says the principal applicant, and their spouse if applicable- I'm not certain of what is considered applicable.
Maybe I'm just being dense here in my uncertainty, but I don't want to miss anything.

Also, in regards to putting my "present" address in these Outland forms, since I am doing outland, but still living in Canada, do I use my Canadian address regardless? Or put where I would be living in the States?

yes, it's perfectly acceptable to use a canadian address as an outland applicant. otherwise the COPR will be mailed to the US, and you will have to leave to get it or have someone mail it to you in canada.

only you, as the principal applicant/sponsored person need to fill out the Additional Family form. to get a better idea who needs to complete what forms, consult the checklist. i know some of them seem ambiguous, in this case it would only apply if , for instance , you AND your spouse would immigrate to Canada and somehow someone else is sponsoring you .
