.....LinkedIn

I get calls even while I'm in the office for job offers from my LinkedIn profile.....and they always ask if I know someone if I turn down the offer. I know several immigrants that have had success with this as well.

Other places would be Government immigration settling programs....they help with english, resume, and interview skills....and also help target quick vocational or evening courses for target jobs.

The jobs are there....you just have to know how to find them.....then how to sell yourself.....then how to keep them.

i need to update my Linkedin account for real, the last i worked for a company was about 5 years ago so planning to go in a new country i had to really stay ahead of the game and the players.

When it comes to job searching, I've been dubbed job search queen by friends, my disability caseworker and my in-laws.

kijiji.com
indeed.com
applytoeducation.com (specifically for schools)
linkedin.com
Local employment and education centres
Every newspaper that is published in your area
care.com

I actually hate Monster.ca because I live in a small town, but it apparently is wonderful for Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal etc.

We may not be able to find you a perfect match but certainly give you lots of examples so you can start your own search.

Indeed.ca is THE best one I've found so far, found and worked at 2 jobs and got called for 1 other one from the jobs I applied for through this website throughout the years

I've always applied to companys directly. I mean, I have tried job sites like careerbuilder.ca, monster.ca, etc - never gotten a job that way. All my jobs came from applying online or in person directly to the company.

One job I worked for a while, I applied online and the company's filter automatically rejected my application. However, I went inside, talked to one of the employees. She was super nice (lucky for me) and took my information down for their manager plus told me when to come in. I came in with resume in hand. The manager hired me on the spot. Talk about a spell of good fortune!

well i always say if your going to look for something you have to be prepared for anything, so good you were prepared for an interview.

remember this is an open forum so "WE" doesn't mean me alone, we are all here to help each other.

I applied for a job for the first time in three years yesterday (trying to set something up ready for when I land). Totally forgot how to do it it's been so long :P

i was asked me to do a application letter recently and i didn't even remember being that i haven't done it so long, so i knew starting this forum would shed some light on where we can possibly start once someone landed in Canada.

LOL...Nor does "you" me you specifically. Gotta love the ambiguity of the english language sometimes.

My hubby and I were discussing this also...it's gonna be weird being unemployed for so long...praying for lots of beautiful days to go for walks and bike rides, and otherwise I'll try out new recipes and take up crocheting ;D until I'm landed, then it will be get my bottom back to work!
