So why do you need Canadian Citizenship if you will leave right after getting an offer from the US? Why not go now without your citizenship?
Because It's easier to get the Canadian citizenship than to get the American.
Honestly, do you think that people migrate to Canada because they fall in love with it? Immigration is like arranged marriages, love comes after marriage. Most immigrants are looking for the easiest and most rewarding alternative they can get, whether it is Canada, the US, Australia, New Zealand or even Europe. Some even apply for more than one country and go with the one that comes first. It's a matter of pursuing personal interests, no more and no less.

If that's the case for you, I feel really sorry for you man. But in my case and many of my friends, we do actually love Canada. If I get an offer in the US for the same job as I am doing here (I am an engineer), I would still choose Vancouver/Canada. This is the place I call home now, I want to have my family here, and grow old. It was never for escaping from where I used to live....

I agree with that. My sister become US citizen months ago and the process was so fast (4 months). But it's more expensive.

:) why do you guys have problems with people who leave canada after they get their passports. Why you care?
Do they impact your employment? NO.Do they impact your security? NO.

everyone has mobility freedom. After I get my Canadian passport if I get a better job in the US of course I`ll move there and send you a postcard.

Change is good.Monopoly in the parliament is not good.It is time to STOP Harper.Let`s see what other parties will do when they become majority.

If I live until 50 in the US,as a canadian citizen.I`ll move back to canada and spend the rest of my life here with you and enjoy the benefits with you :)
One of the most amusing posts I have read in this forum :)

The future is uncertain, there is no guarantee that after 10-15 years Canada will continue to offer the same benefits like now.

Exactly , I'm sure that he is very valuable worker and he can get a working US visa.
Being Canadian or not is the same thing, because Canadians can't work there without a working visa.

Canadians can work visa free only in Canada.
Yes. Canadians need a working visa to work in US. However if they obtain a H1B visa, then they can apply for a Green Card, since H1B visa is a dual intent visa.

And thus using Canada as a stepping stone to US.

So why they waste so much time here for that Canadian citizenship. Instead they can apply directly for working visa and make the short cut.
Canadians are aliens there just like everybody else.

Because due to a cap of H1B visas to go around, Canadians are favorable and has higher chance in landing a H1B than someone overseas, especially with the population density like India/China.

NO! US green cards are THE most difficult PR in the world. I'm not talking about PR by marriage/sponsorship etc. I'm talking about PR as a skilled worker. There are many years of waiting time and there's no guarantee to get it in the end. Getting Canadian citizenship first is a solid fallback for 3rd world immigrants, should anything go wrong if/when they attempt their US green card bid.

That's funny. It is still easy to get American citizenship. You wait 5 years as Green Card to qualify (1 year longer than Canada). And yet it is quite difficult to renounce US citizenship. Costly and time consuming processing and probably longer than Canadian citizenship process.

This is a lot of struggle and waste of time for something so ordinary like a working visa with double intend for US.

Sounds like a cheap dream for me. For all that struggle waste of money and time just for an working visa... Hmmm we are living in a really strange world.

Why these people are selling themselves so cheap???

I got the Green card from the lottery, But at the same time it's very easy to be obtained with marriage.
Why the people are taking the most long and difficult ways?

The topic is this government stay or Go I strongly believe that this government should go

now and new government should come ?? Regarding Green Card you can easily obtain

through marriage or your blood relationship..
