Hello peki, sorry to hear that you have been refused TRV. Don't worry 'bout that as your actual visa will give you the opportunity to soon join your mate in Canada.

BTW

Any news here people except peki's? Com'on guys. Search your inbox folders, check your e-Cas. Another week is closing down again and still nothing. How can it be?

Europe are you having a god time dear? Hungary how are the twins? Sunny, how are your spirits dear? Sponsor I know how you feel. It's like sitting in hot coal!

Cheers to all

Well usually they issue TRVs for 6 months, even though it all depends on the officer at the port of entry, he can allow a shorter period or god forbid deny entry, but that's rare, mostly it's 6 months. You must leave Canada by the expiry date of your TRV, or if you want to stay longer you need to apply for TRV extension, but only from Canada, I think at least a month before the expiry of your TRV. If it's granted you can stay longer, but again until the expiry date.

Staying in Canada as a tourist with a TRV does not jeopardize processing of your PR application. But, it is not possible to finalize your PR application if you do not leave Canada (if OUTLAND of course) because you obtain PR status only when you land Canada with COPR. In case they request an interview you need to leave Canada and go to Vienna. In case they need new medical/some additional documents like police certificate you would have to go home too.

But if they finalize everything without that and you get passport request during your stay in Canada I suppose you could send it by mail, I thought about it too, but I'm not sure it's a good idea not to have a passport in a foreign country. And they would mail the passport and COPR back to your home country and not your address in Canada so someone would have to mail it too you in Canada (supposing your TRV did not expire by then). With your passport you could flagpole to the nearest border I guess, I know little about it. Not sure where you are from but I need a TRV for US as well so this seems too complicated if you ask me. I will go home and then fly to Canada again with COPR. Hope this answers your question.

Other members, any thought about this? I have dilemmas on this matter too.

I have been looking into this a lot lately as well. There is the option to be and stay in Canada on a TRV (I am exempt though, EU based), while your PR application is still running. It is called Dual Intent, JJ2 has pointed me into the right direction, with this link: http://www.canadavisa.com/immigration-canada-dual-intent.html.

However, your above statements are true. If you need to do an interview, provide additional documentation etc, you need to go home to take care of it. Furthermore I wouldn't be a big fan of sending your passport by mail, while you are in a foreign country either. On top of that, I am planning on bringing furniture in a container. None of that can obviously be brought on a tourist visa. So currently we are trying to find out if it would be ok if my GF would bring it on her name, since she will be a returning citizen.

Altogether the safest route seems to really come as a tourist, on a return ticket, and really leave either after 6 months, or when you get your COPR and then reland with your status, while bringing your stuff and what not.

Now that the strike is finished at least, I think that processing times for Vienna will go faster again. Don't let it get to you. ;)

Hello Tom

Cheers to you too

I'm waiting for my passport and I hope Vienna will send me by FedEx. I put a air waybill and tell them that I want back my passport with FedEx. I don't know why but I have problem with my mail in Macedonia. They send me the bills but the other mail usually I don't get.I'm so excited because finally I heard a good news from Vienna. My husband went in Canada happy. We spent a very nice holiday including Octoberfest in Munich. A lot of beer........................... :D :D :D :D :D

To all guys. My wish is to get your visas as soon as possible. I hope I'll keep the first place on the waiting list. Please don't take it. :D :D :D
