Well usually they issue TRVs for 6 months, even though it all depends on the officer at the port of entry, he can allow a shorter period or god forbid deny entry, but that's rare, mostly it's 6 months. You must leave Canada by the expiry date of your TRV, or if you want to stay longer you need to apply for TRV extension, but only from Canada, I think at least a month before the expiry of your TRV. If it's granted you can stay longer, but again until the expiry date.

Staying in Canada as a tourist with a TRV does not jeopardize processing of your PR application. But, it is not possible to finalize your PR application if you do not leave Canada (if OUTLAND of course) because you obtain PR status only when you land Canada with COPR. In case they request an interview you need to leave Canada and go to Vienna. In case they need new medical/some additional documents like police certificate you would have to go home too.

But if they finalize everything without that and you get passport request during your stay in Canada I suppose you could send it by mail, I thought about it too, but I'm not sure it's a good idea not to have a passport in a foreign country. And they would mail the passport and COPR back to your home country and not your address in Canada so someone would have to mail it too you in Canada (supposing your TRV did not expire by then). With your passport you could flagpole to the nearest border I guess, I know little about it. Not sure where you are from but I need a TRV for US as well so this seems too complicated if you ask me. I will go home and then fly to Canada again with COPR. Hope this answers your question.

Other members, any thought about this? I have dilemmas on this matter too.

No rules nor consistency with Vienna this year. It took me 7 days but I was the lucky one. (Then again, they didn't open my file since so maybe not so lucky after all, but that's another story ) Some people waited much longer, lot of people never got their AOR.

Is there a regular schedule when ecas is updated? Once a week for example? Got SA last Thursday and it still displays "Application received".

Thanks for the information. Guess I do not need to check the status on a regular schedule. I'll just wait for an email from Vienna.

I don't get the point of offering an online status page if the information is obviously not up to date most of the time

Me too i applied since January and My file transfer to Vienna in febuary since that time to now is application recieved nothing change so Ecas is not update so much especially Vienna office they dont care about it

They asked me to redo the medical after we sent an e-mail for status update. Approximately after a month they asked for a new medical. Maybe you should send an email Vienna and ask for status update and then they will ask for the medical.

My second stage date is the day back in August when I actually received a reply from my inquiry why they haven't contacted me for so many months. So they replied to me by telling me that my files are there without mentioning dates. So I entered my stage 2 AOR as the day I too their email

Sponsor Congratulations , we send our passport with Fedex , and Vienna send us the passport back with the regular mail .. they dont sen you with Fedex,

ahan... this means they do change the status ... well i think even after you receive your passport with VISA you will not c the status as DECISION MADE .:d

I am fine.. my process time is about to finish its 6th month and Vienna is still sleeping :d and yes Europe is off for couple of days so our real motivator will not be in this Forum for few days... I hope someone from us will get some good news!!
