SanBen i talked to MP and they told dotn redo your medical at aLL , BECAUSE IF YOU ARE CLOSE TO YOUR Process THEY CAN EXTEND IT ..lets see hope we are going to have some luck

thanks Europe! I won't redo it unless they ask me. I've read somewhere that it's a different form so if I don't hear anything by end of this month I might email them again to ask but I will definitely not initiate the medical on my own. I know they changed the way they handle medical re-exams in april or may this year so I'm hoping they can extend ours as well. This is getting so tiring, when will all this end? :(

Just a comment to all
I understand and respect that the government has to get payed in order to process all those huge volumes of applications. (nothing comes for free)
But they also have to realize that many of these applicant are people who are driven to immigrate out of a need for a better life and many of them do not have the financial resources to pay and pay and pay.
What I mean! I read from many of you that they ask you to redo the meds. From little that I know the meds cost in many countries in Europe 250Euros. Dont they (CIC) realize that some people are having a great difficulty saving this money to pay again and again

That is all and please do not make replies of judgment and criticism. I only expressed an opinion here

it is frustrating messener, however, the money argument is mute in this category (family sponsorship) at least. As a sponsor it is just one of the obligations that we have, so paying a few hundred bucks for the exam sucks but it's not the biggest of my worries. I am more worried with the additional delays that a re-medical will most likely cause to our file.

I am still in Process, and know that they got the documenets and they are processing the application but i dont know how long will take for them to finish , do you think they can extend medical if the process is very close to end

They do have the possibility to extend, but I believe it's up to the VO, they don't have to, if they don't want to. They didn't extend my husband's and they didn't extend ocanadaguy's, so it looks like Vienna is not one of the VOs that do extend, they rather ask for renewal it seems...

I can only say i had a reply really fast, but that was after i received my COPR, there was some info wrong on it and i wrote them 2 emails about it and got twice a fast reply like the next day, might be that they just did that cause the case was kinda done and its important cause the info has to be correct. With emails while in process i have no experience, i never had to send one.

They answered mine as well very fast once the COPR was near, but before that, no...

I contacted my MP today to inquire about the status of my application and will probably hear from them tomorrow. I was told though that we are not even close to the one year mark and that immigration takes more than one year in most cases. :(

waikiki, did you wait for them to request a new medical or did you just did you email them after your old medical elapsed?

I emailed them, and they did not answer. I emailed them 1 week before they expired. THey never answered. Then, 2 months later, they send a request for remedicals...

@Franzi, I think they are right, a lot of cases take a long time. Some people get there visa in a matter of weeks, but I think one should not expect such a short procedure, the average processing time is indeed close to a year. I believe our case would have been finalized within 1 year if the file had not been transferred to Vienna, this delayed everything.

Just a friendly reminder to potential new readers among us Vienna applicants that there is a spreadsheet to track our progress, which can be found here:

it is frustareted, waiting time, is taking forever, our process is like 11 months for the complete documets, Mp told me you are in backround from October and dont redo the medical , because your file is almost done to be close , sometimes( most of the time ) they extend your process, is depend for the case.

Europe don't be frustrated everything will be ok when the right time is there, we are all waiting and god prepared everything for us. So no worries just relax and we are almost done. For me it has been more then one year.

Good luck

The waiting is so hard. Europe your data of procedure is similar with mine. My application arrived in Mississauga on 1 February 2012. Vienna received app on 17 May 2012. I had interview on 16 October 2012 and from 19 October 2012 I'm in process till today. I sent an e-mail on the begging of November and Vienna replied on my e-mail saying that they are checking my background. I hope Vienna soon will solve my case.

Let's see Europe if not this week then next week :D
I know it is hard but we have to wait for the final
Do u know or anyone knows how long a background checks are taking for german citizens???

I dont Know i heard sometimes is taking a month sometimes longer, and dependce if you miss a document you are in Q until they start working until in your process, and sometimes they forget in your file , like for example they forgot bout my file
