Hi Serdj!
Thank you so much, really! Hvala. Will talk to my boyfriend asap, this visa thing is all I can think about these days...

How are you two doing?

No problem, glad to help :)

As VasilisaPrekrasna said it's very stressful but we keep ourselves busy and trying not to let this frustrating process get to us. At some point you realize that you can't do much to speed things up and you just let it go and wait... being apart is the hardest part...and that is the most stressful and frustrating thing in entire process. Anyway... I think I'm in the final stage now and hopefully it won't take much long.

For you it will be formality so don't worry.

Another thing... download and study all necessary forms. It will help you to prepare when you see what you need to add to those forms (Photos etc.). They look complicated but actually they are not. There is a checklist so you can't go wrong. Ask if you need any help.

Lep pozdrau :)

Hi Everyone,

First, congrats to all that have been granted visa's recently! That is such wonderful news and I am so happy to see progress :)
I've only posted a few times on this thread, but my fiance and I are getting SOOOO confused with all this visa stuff.
We are getting married next week in Serbia and plan on applying for spouse visa but does anyone know about having to take an English test for the visa to be granted? That is something we've been reading about lately and we are not sure if it is required or not.

Thanks for you help :)

You probably seen that in federal skilled worker section, they need to take IELTS tests.
It's not required in family class sponsorship.

Thanks Serdj977!! That's what I've seen as well!
Also, when does he need to book his medical? Is it after we've applied?

Serdj, you said it would be just a formality for me... how do you know that? :) Why do you people wait for ever and it would be different for me?

Lucky guess :D

No really, if you don't have military involvement or criminal record you are fine. Your background checks won't take that much time and your process is done much faster.
Try to find applicants from Slovenia here on this forum to find out timeframes. I remembered I've seen that one Slovenian girl was done in 3 months. Here in this topic is arunsgirl try to contact her, she is from Slovenia too. They lost her file first time she applied, then she send her application all over again and I think it was done in 3 months.

Some of us are stuck in a background checks because we were in mandatory military service during conflicts in Balkans. You can read about it in the first pages of this topic. I explained why this process takes more time for me.

I see. That's true, it's different for you guys with the military... I'm a good girl, criminal record empty, healthy....
The story of arunsgirl is great, so fast.
I'm just overwhelmed by all this information, I've been reading this forum all day. ??? :)

Don't stress about it! Follow what your heart tells you. You have a lot of options, you're lucky!

Hey Cleo how goes it?
:)

You ready for the arrival? I saw Goran Bregovic and his Balkan brass band are in town at the end of month, playing at Orpheum, in case you want to get into the spirit.
xo

It goes well. Only 3 weeks now! I am busy cleaning out my closets to make room for my husband's stuff. I've also made reservations for our wedding anniversary in December. It's so fun being able to make plans now.

Anyway word for you?

After a good quality talk we decided to get married next year. I'm going to stay here for a few more months, save money and let canadian winter go away, then go there as a tourist and do it.
I couldn't be happier!
And thank you for all your advice, lovely people.

Great :) Good luck!

Try to find some info on medicals. I believe you can take medical tests in Canada, but double check that before you go.

And since you'll be landing in Quebec, as I understand you need Certificat de sélection du Québec (CSQ – Québec selection certificate), check that too.
