Wow, sponsorship approval times have gone up a bit.

Yes it's crazy... it was 35 days when we applied.

Yeah, what Serdj said...the worst thing you can do is compare your application to others. Doesn't do any good and only causes frustration.

:'( I saw that , but at least we can hope that if there is no any additional pps needed Vienna would finish at some reasonable time

It's usually 3-5 months for Vienna on routine cases. It's one of the fastest offices in the world if you are not a special case :).
Where are you from lucky rain? Are you the sponsor or?

I'm being sponsored by my husband. Since we are more than 10 y married I believe that interview will be waived. But who knows? All I know is that this waiting is killing me. I know that we all should be patient and hope for the best, but separated family is something I would never think of . :'( I'm from BIH

I agree on being apart thing... We were together for only 5 weeks in 14 months and it's hard to cope with that...
Anyway, every day we are closer to the end of this process. I'm reminding myself that from time to time, it helps :)

10 years been married is more than enough to prove that your relationship is genuine :) I think you'll be fine.

Well I finally read everything from the beginning of this thread , wow. I guess it is a bit easier if you know that you are not alone in all of this. Thank you for your support. I just started(actually we are collecting papers since May this year), I had bad experience with USA bureaucracy, that is why I'm anxious about this one. Good news is my hubby is coming next month for visit yaaay ;D

My medics are done.
Do you think it will be a problem because we'll get married AFTER my medics and the fact my last name will have an additional last name (mine and his). Should I even take his last name?

Getting married in Quebec is a bit different too. Well, it used to be.

cleo, what is the difference? I'm really curious :)

We just kept our names to keep things simpler. We might change later on but we thought it might slow things down if we had to go through all that name change stuff.

Well, I lived in Quebec 20 years ago. I almost got married, but there was this law that said you had to take a marriage course and then you could get married 20 days after applying. Well, in that time I changed my mind! Good thing too because I don't think he was the right one. Anyway, I don't know if it's like that still. Also, in the past women always took the husband's name but in Quebec it was never like that, she kept her own name, or they had a double barreled name.

Hi all,

This might seem like a dumb question, but my husband and I are filling out the 0008- Generic Application Form for Canada and it says to write his UCI (Universal Client Number). In the instruction booklet it says "if this is your first application"- does this refer specifically to a SPOUSAL visa? I ask this because he applied for a tourist visa in April 2011 and was denied. Would the same UCI apply, or should he write NA? His visa office will be Vienna as he is Serbian.

I believe that you have to leave that blank , but I will check again. I know i left that one empty

Just leave it blank.

If I went to Quebec to get married or my boyfriend came to my country to do that... would it be ok just to go there on a tourist visa or would any of us need something special...? A while ago I read somewhere about some marriage visa... what's up with that?

You don't need a tourist visa because you are from Slovenia.

Yes yes I know, I expressed myself wrong... :-[
I was wondering if one of us needed something special becuase that would be the purpose of the visit... I guess not. :)
