It used to be a matter of days. These days it's much more hit and miss so don't count your chickens quite yet ;)

When was the medical?
He did his medical in the middle of December. But I just mean, how many days did the VO give you to get your passport to them? I mean we have 20 days to get it to them and it just seems very short since we are so far away.

i know the applicants from visa exempt countries (whether having the passport of that country or not) does not need a visa just copr will be done.
but does that mean when requested for pp, we need to send the pp ?

Here's another question for all you brilliant minds out there..should we send in copies of our banking statements? They have records of movie tickets purchased, food purchased, records of dinner outs etc..thought it might be useful? Thoughts?

So then you aren't at risk of expiration. If there is a reason you can't mail the passport off to them send them a case specific enquiry explaining the reason and asking for an extension.

BTW, what is the applicant's nationality? If it's a visa exempt country, double check the PPR to ensure they aren't asking for just a copy of the passport.

It actually depends on the nationality, not the country of application, If your nationality is not visa-exempt then you need a visa counterfoil in your passport to travel to Canada. Therefore, they request your passport to attach the visa to your passport.

In contrast, if you are from a visa-exempt country, you don't need a visa placed into your passport and therefore they often only request a photocopy of your passport.

Awesome... Thank you so much. I wonder if I still have the copies of the copies I sent in with my application...

You're welcome :) My understanding is that they request recent copies so don't worry too much about finding them (or at least update any pages that may have changed - not worth messing up this close to the finish line!).

Bank statement can be very useful if both your names are on there as well as showing purchase where the spouse lived or where you lived together for instance anything can help. Have you put in phone records?

Thanks everyone for your congrats! Felt like that e-mail was never gonna come (based on their lack of communication at all times). I'm glad we are at this point now.

For others who received their PPR, how many days did you have to get your passport to the VO?
I was given 30 days. Congratulations, btw!

For online fee payment (processing fees + Right of Permanent Residence Fee), there's a page that says:

Online Payment

Where will you be sending/where have you sent your application?
Sydney, Nova Scotia (Canada) processing centre
Mississauga, Ontario (Canada) processing centre
Vegreville, Alberta (Canada) processing centre
Ottawa Haïti processing centre
Backlog Reduction Office (BRO-V), Vancouver (British Columbia)
Case Processing Project Ottawa (CPPO)
In our case, is it Mississauga or CPPO?

Is there any down side to paying the fees a couple of weeks before submitting the application?

While you are exempt from LICO since you are just sponsoring your spouse without dependents, they want information on your income is to make sure you have a solid plan in place to support yourselves without relying on welfare.
Dh transferred most of his savings to a Canadian bank account. Is there any down side to his showing a Canadian bank account balance as part of the documentation of his financial plan to support himself, even though he is in Canada on visiting/temporary resident status? My income is pretty low so showing his savings becomes important.

I can't see why it would be an issue* - it just confirms you are intending to move and settling in Canada.

* assuming you are doing everything by the book and declaring it in your tax return if he's a deemed Canadian resident, etc.

Mississauga. No downside to paying early.

e-Case is notoriously not reliable. However, sponsorship approvals have been showing up.

What shows up when you try logging in with the sponsor's last name and his UCI number (from the approval letter), his DOB, etc? What about if you use your last name (as applicant) and your file number and DOB, etc?

Also, I am not aware of anyone receiving an AOR from Ottawa for step 2 yet. Either they are working very quitely behind the scenes or there is some sort of hold going on (e.g., recruiting, training, waiting for files to show up, many possibilities...)
Thank you for responding!

I hadn't tried my name with the file number yet. I had been trying with the receipt number. So, I do have an eCas status (embarrassed).

It says that they have received my application as of March 27th, 2012. But that's when it got to Mississauga, so no updates from Ottawa yet.

Another question now. Has anyone applied with an apartment as an address? They have my address in there funny. It's in this format:

Apt# Street #
Street Name
City, State
Country

Does anyone else's apartment number come before their street address in the system?
