No kidding. I wish I had a photo studio too. I went to Walmart today and they said they couldn't take immigration photos. I haven't checked Walmart yet. CVS said no also. They all just take passport size photos.

Shopper's Drug Mart and Costco will :)

Thank you. I'll check out Costco on Saturday. It's an hour away :-\
I meant to say I haven't checked out Walgreens yet.

If there's a place near you that you can print out a 4x6 photo, check out online services like http://www.epassportphoto.com/ . If you take the photo yourself, they will place several on one 4x6 standard photo that you can print either at a grocery store, pharmacy, or online service (someone mentioned they used this and snapfish to have them mailed to their house).

thank you. I just checked and the doctor asked for 5 passport sized pics....and they will be charging me 390 dollas!!! plus it's 4 hours away from where I am. It seems that all my problems are piling up now. :(
Actually this is not so bad. When I was planning to do my medical, I called a doctor in Pittsburgh, PA, to ask about the price of the exam. They said $450. We drove to Canada and did it for $165 in Toronto area. It was totally worth it.

That's not bad. I'll check out my options tonight. I haven't asked Walgreens yet. I'll have to stop by that place to get my passport pics taken for my doctors appointment still.

Wow, I should have done that two months ago when I went to see my husband two months ago. GRRRR what a ripoff

Same here. Medical exams are much cheaper to do while in Canada. I just did mine while on a visit to see my wife in Quebec.

I actually just got mine done at an Office Depot. Are you bringing the instructions with you or just asking if they do immigration photos? If the latter, it's possible that they just don't know what "immigration photos" entails, and are assuming they can't do them. Bring the instructions in with you, and ask "Can you do passport photos to these specifications?". Then measure everything afterwards to make sure that it's right.

Oh yes, I've been carrying my instructions with me. I thought of it before leaving my house too. Good one! Thank you for covering that part.

Good idea, though I don't know how much it would help. Most places I checked with said they could only do pictures of a certain size. I ended up having to go to an actual photo studio, (not a mall or department store type one), to get mine done. I was really surprised at how difficult it was to get them.

Hey guys, sorry for posting this here but i noticed many posts don't get answered in the visitors section where I originally posted this.

I am an American in the process of obtaining my permanent residency through family class sponsorship. My wife is Québécois and we are in stage 2 of the process. I'm curious if I would have any trouble driving her car while I'm on a visit in Canada across the border to the US for a day trip without her? I've read elsewhere that she would not be able to drive a car plated in the US back across into Canada but is it the same for US citizens driving Canadian plated cars?

Thanks!

My husband is insured on my car as an occasionnal driver with his American license and he is fine to drive it in Canada/USA...now every insurance company is different and you would have to check it out. You could also be insured under yours...i would definately inquire about it.

I am also insured as an occasional driver through my wife's insurance. Just curious if I'll get any trouble from either US or Canadian border patrol if I'm by myself in her car? I'd like to go into the US for just a few hours really and then drive right back.

He drove my car in last time and we had no problem but I was in the car...if you have proof or insurance and the title (registration to the car) i don't see how there would be a problem maybe have your wife right a letter stating that she authorizes her car to leave the US and come back in 24 hours just like we do when bringing minors into the US without their parents...again i would double check...call border patrol or something because I know we are not allowed to drive and american plated car here...
