I'm not sure if you can email the receipt or if you have to mail it, you could always do both. RPRF stands for the Right of Permanent Residence fee. Some folks pay the $490 up front, others choose to wait.

I've been hanging around here for a few years now and felt like I'd bitten my tongue enough. Monstergirly really didn't say anything that demanded the vitriol she received. That's what it says about me. I don't like watching people gang up on someone.

You claim to be supportive, but it seems like the whiners only like to support the other whiners. Have at it - there's plenty around.
Your 'women' comment wasn't necessary / warranted. You could look at it how you want to as people ganging up on someone or you could see it for what it is. People just saying hey be mindful of how you say things. Some people are in tough spots with this immigration thing and a simple word might not go over so well. Thank you for your concern.

Thank you. Jamsham12 I think I am in the same boat I did not pay the 490 upfront only the 550 with the application Now after reading everything on here I am regretting I didn't pay it upfront.

It can add some time to your application process if they have to request it from you, as goes for any document request. However, I would assume that if you can get it in before they request it, you should see the same timeline as everyone else:)

Sounds like a plan. I still have not received any news yet and my application was received on April 7th. No AOR or anything. I am waiting for update on wait times so I can call and ask at the call centre. Fingers crossed as I see some people on here say their application have been lost! I would faint!

I can't believe I screwed up!

We sent in our app to CIC in December, it was open in March and I was approved to sponsor my husband. My husband just received an email requesting a "valid marriage/certificate". Prior to sending in our package, I carefully reviewed the documentation requested and I sent a copy of the "long form marriage certificate" in my package. To be clear, I took the marriage certificate that they sent me, photocopied it and sent it in my package. The CIC agent I just spoke with said we did everything right and to resend with a letter of explanation.

I spoke to someone at the registrar's office where the certificate is issued and she explained that a lot of people do not recognize the long form marriage certificate and that could be why they are requesting a "valid" certificate.

I'm just going to order a file size one and send it registered mail.

Anyone else send a long form and have an issue?

Purely anecdotal, but I think I sent in a copy of the long-form marriage certificate too, and it was fine. Hmmm... although, I have never heard that phrase before (long form).

This is a sample version of the Marriage Certificate I sent in from BC. it was the exact one they mailed us after our marriage. It was a full page.

It's possible that CIC actually lost the Marriage Certificate, they have quite the habit of losing or misplacing files, forms, and dox.

I mean with the way they are processing and the backlog if you paid it now or even a month or two later, i doubt the application will be delayed, but if they request it, it might delay the decision for a few weeks.

Hey folks… sorry if I inadvertently caused a stir with my comments about getting DM. I really was just speculating (which is all we can do, apparently) and never said anything was perfect or meant to be insensitive. I honestly just randomly logged on to ECAS on Monday and saw the update, and I’m still not sure what to make of it because I won’t know what the decision actually is until I get the next communication from the CIC.

The “not knowing how long it will take” part of this process is seriously a frustrating and stressful thing, and reading about the bureaucratic nightmare people go through sucks.

I only wish the best for everyone and hope that I can help others with my experience.

<3 I think it was a combination of several comments from various folks, thank you for clarifying, and for understanding why people took it so personally. You're very kind, monstergirly and we are all very happy for you of course! I hope that your letter comes soon to put your mind at ease. I know mine certainly won't be at ease until that CoPR is actually in my hand!

Ottawa told us we had to mail it to Mississauga, so we printed it out and sent it to Mississauga and also sent it by email to Ottawa. I asked for clarification but they never replied. (It also send to send the CSQ to Ottawa and the RPRF receipt to Mississauga and that they both MUST be in the same package, which made no sense to me at all. Also, "We look forward to hearing from you within thirty (15) days.")

I sent the long form of our marriage LICENSE. Screwed that up and they requested our marriage certificate. Sent that out and saw you could do long version, I just googled marriage cert for Ontario (where we were married) & the 'short' form showed up. So I just sent that. I've also heard someone sent a long form and had no issues. A marriage cert is a marriage cert in my opinion regardless long or short. Don't sweat the little stuff like that!
Sorry if this has already been addressed!
