Just got a copy of the email that CIC sent to my spouse a week ago requesting FBI certificate, which we have proof they received in January. They say FBI processing time can be up to 18 weeks = 126 days, then state if they don't get it from us within 90 days, our application may be returned to us. Also shows a different UCI # for my spouse (Applicant) than for me (Sponsor), but the same Application #. This email was the first time we've gotten a UCI # for my spouse. Another example of CIC screw-ups. According to info I've gotten via Google searches, an internal audit of CPC-Vegreville (for Inland apps) showed a 60% error rate for a one-month period at the end of last year. Errors were largely in correspondence that was sent to applicants regarding information required. CIC is the federal government department with the vast majority of requests for information under ATIP, which takes time for CIC staff to process, and takes time away from them processing our applications. Budget cuts in 2012 have resulted in most Visa Officers being casual staff of mostly University students. Maybe there'll be a fresh hire of keeners, now that the University term is over?!

Every time I hear about CIC requesting documents from people that clearly already submit them makes me feel nauseous that they will do the same to me -_-

I have no insight on the FBI clearance because I haven't gotten a request for that (yet?!..) but I know a lot of people have had a similar issue. I think they've submitted fingerprints to the FBI and faxed off the information to Immigration informing them they've attempted to get it, but because the long wait for the FBI check may not have it in time. But in terms of the UCI # you as the sponsor will have a different one than the person you are sponsoring. Because the application is the same you both will have the same app #. Don't worry over that, completely normal.

Got an email today saying:
This is in reference to your application for permanent residence in Canada.

In order for us to continue the processing of your application, we require the following documents:
XXXXXXXX - My Name Here:

> RPRF, Family Class: Have your sponsor pay the Right of Permanent Residence fee in Canada This must be received at this office by: 2015/07/04

Anyone else know approximately how long it takes once they ask your sponsor for payment? We are obviously going to pay it immediately! Application was sent in November. Just wanted to know if anyone was at that point and could shed some light...

Thanks!
D :)

I'm an August app & they didn't request the marriage certificate until March//April. I misread it and sent the marriage license thinking they lost it. Then a month later they sent another email requesting the certificate. So the first week of May they received it. I know the short marriage certificate is only $15 & is guaranteed in 15 days (in Ontario). We got it a week later, it's never a bad thing to have if your worried. & after $1,040 what's an extra $15....LOL

Interesting. Mine was a certified long-form but it did say License in the top right corner. The other option was the one you said, the certificate, that isn't certified and is $15.

I'll go ahead and order this week to have it. I went ahead and just ordered it online. If they request it, we'll send it in without having to wait for it to arrive. (I'm tempted to send it to the Ottawa VO after SA is approved and I know it's likely arrived. Not sure how that'd work though.)

Thanks again for your wisdom!

Congrats, Amalthea, and thanks for all your support. Linda

So... I got my COPR today, in the mail, at our address in Canada. It was issued on the 1st. I am pretty surprised that it came through in less than 5 months - I wasn't expecting it so soon. Crazy!

Now I have to officially land and import my car, so I'll hopefully be able to share those experiences with everyone. This forum has been an amazing help to me - thanks to all!

I hope this means that everyone will start moving through more efficiently. Maybe Amalthea and I were in the same pile...

CPC - Ottawa asked me for my FBI clearance and I had clearly already sent it to them. That same day I submitted new prints and sent them a well drafted email with a scanned copy of my original FBI clearance. I explained to them the crazy wait times, I told them I had already submitted my original and I asked them nicely to please look for it. 3 weeks later I got an email back saying they would accept the copy since it was clear I had already submitted the original. My notes say "accept copy of FBI clearance because original was misplaced."

Next - UCI #s are individual. Sponsor and principal applicant will have different UCI #s. The entire applicAtion though has just 1 app #.

Wow I am truly sorry that they are so incompetent. You should email them back saying that they should extend your medical for making you wait 15 months yet they are approving applicants who applied just 5 months ago!. Yeah, I am fed up with CPC-O!

Hello,
Concerning the processing times, is it actually 16 months for Ottawa ?

Oh Yes! Some are faster however, last year went faster towards the end of the year. Avg is around 8-10 mos.

congratulations to you!

Just a quick update from me.
Mississauga sent my Husband's application to Port of Spain for processing. They said because he is a Trinidadian national and his is residence is in the US they sent it to Trinidad. He has been living in the US for a year and a half now.

It doesn't matter to me as long as it get processed. I got SA this week as well
Good luck to you all and I guess I am moving to another forum.
