To an extent, Liberals are themselves to blame. It was there top election priority but took a 'real' backseat post elections.
If Conservatives succeed - then at least they are delivering to their audience. I don't understand the filibustering 'allowed' by liberals with the majority they have. I understand process, law but what is going on in bananas.
Sooner or later, we will be citizens, regardless. With these type of amendments, its better if C-6 is juts killed. (at least for me). The backlog Liberals have generated with 1 year of delay in making this success is only going to delay citizenship post C-6 implementation (if it happens)
Problem will remain same - whom to vote?

I don't think anyone here has the right to judge the other...each individual's situation is different and unique, its obvious and natural that any newcomer would be looking forward to becoming a citizen asap ..its an important milestone and a moment that can be "life-changing" for some people.
To me it simply means i can visit my close first degree relatives on the other side of the border without having to pay $200 for a single entry visa each time (multiplied by 4 if travel with my wife and kids)! Mind you... even after paying and getting the visa stamped on the passport..there's still no guarantee i could visit the US as Trump doesn't like my country of citizenship and has tried at least twice in the past 2 months to ban its citizens from entering.
I think patience is the key, 3 or 4 years - at the end we'll all become citizens anyway..its a matter of time
Nasty people who presume guilt until proven otherwise, the very opposite of a liberal democracy. Most such people just hate immigrants, dont want them coming in to the country, but once they do, don't want them going out! They just hate the fact that some 3rd world people might enjoy the privileges that 1st world people were born into.

The bill with amendments, will be moving back to the HoC the first week after the holidays.

Hey, in the last sitting the majority of the senators voted against the residency requirement amendment proposed by the Conservatives (Frum and Eaton), so yes, we are for sure at 3/5 now.
The next sitting (beginning of May) will be to discuss and vote on the last amendment (which has nothing to do with residency), and after that, the bill will be read a 3rd time. After the 3rd reading, the bill will sent back to the House of Commons for a final vote. The house of commons can either pass the bill with all the added amendments (which I hope they do), or reject the amended form of the bill and send it back to senate for debate. All in all, Senator Mobina Jaffer is hopeful that the bill will be finalized and passed (royal assent) before the summer break (i.e. during the month of June).
