Yes, provide all the documents requested. I believe its the option c printout you need to provide for the sponsor only.

Congrats to everyone on their progress!

I must confess to losing heart again with our application. This Friday will be a month "In Process" and also no sign of the GCMS notes which we ordered 31 days ago now. So still none the wiser as to when the background checks started or when they're going to be done.

Going to fire off an e-mail to them tomorrow if the notes have still not arrived.

Received CIC letter dated April 2nd, Stage 1 approved and application forwarded to London! ;D Still not updated on ECAS to reflect this...if that is helps anyone else who is waiting to relax. The letter may well come before the information is updated online.

Can this be updated on the spreadsheet please! I love seeing the changes on the spreadsheet...really helpful to see everyones timelines! Thanks!!

We are both students, and we have a general idea of what we want to accomplish and what we need to do. More than likely we will both be working survival jobs throughout university to support ourselves. I have family that can take us in if need ever be. Does that sound like a decent enough plan to describe our plan to the CIC? there is no financial requirement for spousal sponsorship, you just need to prove your marriage is genuine

I am also a full time student and was approved to sponsor.

This is no requirement but you must provide all documents. You can be a full time student, living off student loans or credit cards with no issue.

You can not be on welfare now or in the past 12 months.

Hi all,

I just logged into my ECAS this morning and its changed to inprocess, they started processing my application on 2nd April. I hope all goes well and I have my COPR soon!

I hope there is some movement for all those waiting soon!

We ordered them on the 6th and actually just received them! Today is the first working day past the 30 days so I guess it makes sense.

Unfortunately the notes were generated on the 10th which is bad timing as I changed to "In Process" on the 11th (co-incidence?!). The notes state they hadn't started any background or criminality checks, but their e-mail to me last week said my file was "undergoing routine background checks". So if their e-mail is accurate the checks at best started 4 weeks ago. I'm going to have to re-order some new notes to confirm this is the case.

I can't see anything too alarming deciphering everything. In the officer notes they say they are satisfied we are common law and have no reason to doubt any of the information we have provided. The only bit I don't understand and is causing minor worry is the line at the end of the officer notes that reads "CONDITIONS DO NOT APPEAR TO APPLY. FILE TO MAP FOR REVIEW". I've googled and cannot find anyone else who has mentioned this phrase in their notes, so no idea if this is anything to be concerned about or not. I'd hope not though as this note is from September and I'm now processing.

Thanks for the info Becki! You're a star. That would make sense as we lived together for a year in Canada and then for a further two here in the UK.

I've been reading some of the application documents and on the document checklist it talks about proving a minimum income required, would this be a piece we skip because of spousal sponsorship? Specifically question 18 and 19.

19 on the checklist is only for those that must meet the income requirement. You don't, so you can put N/A for all of the boxes in 19.

For 18, it isn't a definite requirement to have a letter from your employer. In my case, I didn't want to ask my employer for a letter because I didn't want them to know I was going to be leaving the UK, so I included copies of my original contract and my pay slips to prove I was working.

Understand that even though there is no minimum income requirement to sponsor only a spouse, a couple MUST show CIC that they can support themselves without needing welfare. If CIC believes that a couple wouldn't be able to survive without claiming welfare, they can and will refuse the app.

For you guys, as students who won't be able to work that much and need to pay all of your school fees, books etc. on top of living costs, letters from your families stating that they will support you will be a massive help. CIC will know that if you can't support yourselves, you will turn to your families instead of welfare.

Also, I've looked at the fees and gone through what it would be paying. I've checked off: Sponsorship application (75),family member who is spouse (550), and right of permanent resident fee (490). I see one that says principal applicant (475), am I meant to be paying that one as well? Sorry if this isn't the right area for this.

You do not pay a "Family member who is a spouse" fee. That is for couples where both partners are foreign and immigrating to Canada together. In your case, the spouse of the principal applicant is you, so no need to pay a fee for you to immigrate to Canada.

Well after having to send a missing form we've finally had sponsor approval and the application has been received in the UK. Now the waiting begins.

We are actually moving to Canada at the start of June and I'll be on a visitor visa until we get a decision. Can I change my address to be in Canada? Or would it be easier to give a family members address in the UK for correspondence from them?
