I'm interested in this too as I can't wait any longer. I need to be with my partner now as she desperately needs my help looking after an ill relative and I don't see my application being approved any time soon if they have only just started background checks in the last few weeks. I plan to leave it until my medical expiry date and then wait in Canada as a visitor while they finish the process if possible. It's not a massive deal in my case as I could just have my family post the COPR document to me when they receive it, but interested never the less!olliekav said:We are actually moving to Canada at the start of June and I'll be on a visitor visa until we get a decision. Can I change my address to be in Canada? Or would it be easier to give a family members address in the UK for correspondence from them?
I'm not expecting an interview (touch wood) as our notes state they don't have any doubts over us having a genuine relationship, so it could be just the medical that becomes an issue if it expires and they're unwilling to extend it. Anyone know if I have to return to the UK to have another one done or could I have it done from within Canada?
Although I can see from searching the forum loads of people have stayed with their partners while their PR Visa is processing the prospect of having to explain to an agent in a tired state of mind at the airport my intentions is still a little intimating! It's also a little annoying that I'll have to buy a return ticket even though I may not use it, but probably for the best I do have one to show them that there's intent to leave if I have to.
Am I also right in thinking that I can either flagpole or arrange an appointment at a CIC office to officially land in Canada without going back to the UK? I've read all about flagpoling but only just stumbled across the option of doing it while in Canada through making an appointment (although I also understand there can be a waiting time for these). Can anyone confirm if this is definitely an option for outland applications?
Thanks as always to everyone for their amazing help. I've no idea how anyone ever managed this process before the Internet.
