So I am about 7.5 months in to it and due to circumstances I may have to return to the UK until I get PR.

My wife just spoke to our MP's office here and the assistant didn't really say much except our application could take somewhere between 11 and 29 months!

He said if he contacted LVO directly they would just deny his request for info because the processing time (presumably he means 29 months) has not passed. However there are some back-channels he can use to get information which he is going to do today.

He also said that security checks for European applicants take longer than other countries like USA and Australia.

Ohh... Good luck. I hope the back channels reveal some good info.

What I don't understand is in that case, why are the applications for UK applicants getting kept in Canada being processed in a few months? It would be the same background checks being done. It's just getting beyond a joke now, how many people are being left hanging that are being processed through London. The impact on people's life and relationships is immense.

I hope everything works out for you Andrew :)

I know, it does not make sense. Nor does telling us our application will take somewhere in between 11-29 months.

We have been waiting since January 2014 to get our lives back on track. From January 2014 - February 2015 my previous employer was trying to get me a work permit via LMIA but eventually we said was enough was enough and applied for PR in September 2014. Hindsight!

We know it is coming but for someone like me who prefers to be too busy rather than sitting around the house all day this is killing me. The plan is I will go back to the UK without my wife and work there until whenever we get PR.

I feel for other London applicants who applied before me. It is so unfair that some go to Mississauga and the only choice for London based applicants is to accept it.

I wonder how many people's relationships have suffered because of this. I'm so happy when I see other people getting PR, but it does really sting when they applied months after you did. I see lots of people ahead of me in London who have still heard nothing! I only hope London is the next office to have a speed up, like Ottawa seems to have done recently. Chin up fellow London office people, at least we know we are not alone I guess.

Same with LVO honestly lets gets some results .Andrew don't give up on him, if you don't hear anything and you end up going home make sure your wife stays in touch with your MP WHOS CARES IF IT SAYS 29 MONTHS...

My working conspiracy theory is this isn't about Islamabad backlog, but resourcing. With CAD/GBP rate it sure is a lot cheaper to have them processed in Canada. Cut back on staff in London, but keep a few for those cases that require some local attention. Unfortunately those of us left behind are caught in a wait.

Pure speculation of course like most things with this process! It stings a bit as I seem to have just caught the slow down. I was getting all excited when other March applicants starting receiving DM in Nov last year!

I haven't giving up. I requested notes last week so I can see if there is movement before my flight which is on May 31st.

The assistant said he will go through these back channels for info.

I am sending a case specific inquiry today to ask when I should expect to hear something.

I am also looking for remote employment opportunities (I am in IT - Software/Web Dev) so if I managed to get a contract with an EU company then I could stay here while I wait.

Thanks for your support taffy.

That's the only thing that keeps me going is that not many has received PR and of course you guys for listening to me when I am totally Piss*** off and I just want to pack up and Leave Canada .

Its that new building they just moved into ..honestly my file said it was in room 305, so when I email them I'm going to tell them where to look for it pmsl

keeps me going too. Just want to click my heels like Dorothy and be back in blighty with a cup of tea and a hob nob sometimes!

AndrewBrit - Sorry to hear you have to uproot your self. Taffy is spot on about the MP, what a bunch of BS!! Have you order Notes?

In a couple weeks we will be 12 months since application received. We are fortunate to be together while waiting DM, so I personally have nothing to complain about. However, I truly feel for those who are apart, their applications stuck in London and seeing applications filed in 2015 getting DM because they were lucky enough to be processed in Mississauga...Brutal!!!
