Hi,

Here is our time line, I'm a Canadian living in Montreal and sponsoring my husband who's from the US:

- Application sent on March 7th
- Sponsorship approved on April 8th
- PR application received in Buffalo on April 14th
- CSQ received mid-May
- RFPR fees paid at the end of May

Never received AOR nor file number, and e-cas still says "application received"
So I e-mailed Buffalo last Thursday and they got back to me on Friday saying:

"Your application is in process. We are unable to provide a date when the processing of your application will be complete.

Regards,

Canadian Consulate General Buffalo

Immigration Section

buffalo-im-enquiry @ international.gc.ca"

With the file number starting with a F in the subject of the e-mail.

Is it a good sign, does it mean that the file as been opened and they're looking at it right now ? A lot of people who applied in March seemed to have news recently, hopefully it means that we are near the end. I was surprised that they replied almost right away when I read other applicants had to send a lot of e-mails and never got answers.

Thanks

I'm in the same boat as you. I got a response from Buffalo with a "F#" last wednesday and I filed in March too. I don't know where in the process I am, but I am grateful to have a file number and an application that's in process.

Good Luck!

@ Sparkle

Would you be so kind as to add me to the Buffalo sheet?

App Sent May 5, 2011
App Received May 10, 2011
Sponsor Approval June 9, 2011
App Received by Buffalo Jun 10, 2011

Also, I can't believe there are people in March already at PPR.... Crazy! Give me a bit more hope. 11 months makes me shiver!

Thanks Rinnerz!

Why didn't I get an " In Process" update on E Cas :( We all are of same timeline, I am still App. Received. They did email me with FXXXXXX and said its in process but I didn't get a BXXXXXXXX unlike you guys, think that might be it?

I still don't have "In Process" on e-cas either, and my email gave me both F# and B#. All I've got on e-cas is still "application received" since March 24th...

Man these CIC folks are inconsistent.

Anyways no PRs today :(

Same for the people who applied back In December.

Hi Everyone!
I am just checking in...it has been a while. My husband and I have been waiting for 7 months now...We applied back in December...
Our Ecas says they started processing my application May 9th. Unfortunately, we have heard nothing from Buffalo via email or postal mail. I do not have a case number yet.
I joined my husband in Ottawa back in February and was lucky enough to get a Visitors Visa. We thought for sure I would have permanent residency before the Visa expired, but it is not looking so good. We are no longer living at the address in Florida where we sent the outland application. I changed our addressed online 2 months ago, but it is still showing up as the old address on the ECas.

We are traveling to Buffalo next weekend to extend my visitors Visa. Sure wish, I knew what the heck was going on. We submitted an extremely extensive application, and paid all fee's upfront.
Some days I feel like it will never happen.
I will keep everyone posted if anything happens at all.
Good Luck and Take Care to all those separated and still waiting....

Finally got a different response that the basic application in process one!!! Email sent:
Thank you for your response. I understand that your office is very busy, but I would like some more information than my application is being processed. I would like to know the following:
1.What date were my latest medical results received?
2.What date were my latest background checks received?
3.When/if am able to work and receive a Social Insurance Number?
Again I understand that your office is very busy, however since this is my only means of communications (your office does not accept phone inquiries, and as of this time the CIC website does not give any spefics) any more information that you could give me would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks again for your assistance
Email received:
Thank you for your enquiry. Your message has been forwarded to the processing team.

Re: A few more questions

Thanks a lot kayan!

I will definitely take your advice and include the information on additional pages.

Hi Mike,

1. We have included all the times we have lived together and it was also very sporadic. A few months here and a few months there. There is an option of providing additional detail on your application on separate sheets of paper, and this is where we explained everything that we thought might have been confusing or required additional info.

2. I was going to change jobs a month after we have filed our application, and I have included it in the file. Since I knew all the details, I reasoned it would just save me the hassle of updating the info later. And I explained it further on those additional info pages.

3. You send the entire package to Mississauga, and they will forward everything to Buffalo. In fact, they go over the entire application, making sure everything is filled out correctly, and if it is not, they will send part or all of it back, which can delay you by a few months.
