I am discovering that a lot of things in Canada are confusing and disorganized! And to think that once I believed that the U.S. had the most screwed up and pointless immigration process in the world! I think the U.S. is probably the easiest country of all to just walk into and stay and work...what a joke!!!

Janamay1967 I understand your frustration at the process but as a person who have migrated to both countries I can say that the process for Canada is certainly easier and shorter than the USA the only comfort one have applying for residence in the USA as a permanent resident is if you are being sponsored by a US Citizen, but if not be prepared to wait for years and certainly dont even think about common Law or conjugal no such thing. Give me Canada Immigration anytime even with its processing flaws.

I tend to agree with you.
I think it is an American mentality of having rights. That it shouldn't be that difficult to move and immigrate to Canada. :-\

However since I've been in Canada for several years now as a "visitor" I have spoken with many Canadians and they can't figure out why I don't have rights even though I have been married to a Canadian.

Hello there.

My wife is sponsoring me for canadian PR and we are filing outbound. I am from the US and we are applying through Buffalo. When we applied in February we got a letter saying we were approved for sponsorship in March and it was sent to London England (a mistake). We called CIC and they said they would forward it to Buffalo, the proper VO.

In April my wife received a letter dated April 12 2011 stating our app had been sent to Buffalo (the proper VO). Is this letter the AOR? This letter has our client # and kit id#...

I just emailed buffalo today and asked for a file#.

My ecas says:
Sponsorship Application Status: Decision Made

Permanent Residence Application Status: Application Received

When I click the "Decision made" it says: We received your application to sponsor XXXX on February 7, 2011.

We started processing your application on March 4, 2011.

We sent you a letter on March 4, 2011 about the decision on your application. Please consider delays in mail delivery before contacting us.

When I click Application received it says: We received XXXX's application for permanent residence on March 9, 2011.

Medical results have been received.

Should I be worried that it has March as the application processing date and not April. April was when Buffalo received it from London.

Just like you all I'm hoping any day now I get the PPR...

I got a VERY FAST reply from Buffalo that had some interesting info! I got an "F" number and this info:

Your application is in process. We are unable to provide a date when the processing of your application will be complete.
Please do not compare your application to that of others as each situation is unique.
e-Cas is for applications processing within Canada only.

Immigration cases being processed in Visa offices outside Canada use a system different from that used to process similar applications in Canada. As a result, the e-Client Application Status (e-CAS) does not reflect the status of cases being processed in Buffalo.
Do not use the CIC e-Cas on-line change of address system. Your new address will not be downloaded to your file in Buffalo.
Regards,

Canadian Consulate General Buffalo
Immigration Section

Does this mean that ecas is useless???? I am SO CONFUSED!!!!

Well, Glad to hear you have a File #, meaning they know who you are. I wish I knew their processing system because it does seem very confusing. Regardless, we're one step closer. Hopefully, it's not too much longer...

FINALLY received correspondence from Buffalo. it's dated MAY 5, and requests the RPRF to be paid - which, of course, I already paid UPFRONT. so we're resending the receipt today.

also, the RPRF is "due" JULY 4. so hoping that doesn't cause additional problems. UGH.

I seriously can't believe it took them 2.5 months of lost/returned mail and several email exchanges to get that mailed to us. in those email exchanges, couldn't they have just ONCE mentioned that all they wanted was the lousy fee? we could have emailed the receipt then, and voila.

How Is It that Buffalo some how always misplaces receipts, police documents and so on when they are all In the same envelope.Or they dont have the medical exams and there sitting in ottawa on the computer.

1) For the RPRF, it's CPC-M's job to notify Buffalo that the fee is paid. I assume that when Buffalo asks applicants to pay RPRF's that are already paid, it's because of something on CPC-M's end. (Unless somehow CPC-M did send confirmation but Buffalo misplaced that, too.)

2) Police certificates, etc. -- who knows.

3) Buffalo never receives the medical results beforehand. Never. They have to request them from Ottawa. So usually, the times when Buffalo says they don't have them is because they either have slacked off at requesting them, or (more likely) Ottawa just hasn't sent it to them yet (or doesn't even have them, for whatever reason).

I understand what your saying Rinnerz. It just seems like everyday someones paperwork is held up over the same reason as the next person. As long as people have been moveing from country to country you would think It would be alot more smoother. My friends wife Is from Canada and she moved to the U.S. just last year and she got her residency In 3months.

Got a Passport Request email from Buffalo this afternoon!

Overjoyed is an understatement!

The clock is running! So much to do in very little time!

I'm so glad our painstaking reviews of all the forms paid off before we sent them.

Wishing all of you the same good news soon!

Cheers!

Hi All!
Does anyone know how to request E-Cas notes. I am really starting to worry my husband and I have slipped through the cracks.
Thanks!

Thanks!

I assume you mean your CAIPS notes, since e-CAS is nothing but the online status system you log into. Someone brought up CAIPS notes very recently in this thread; here's my explanation for getting them.

Since that post, they have updated the request forms. You now can order both CAIPS and GCMS notes. You might as well order both, since both could have valuable information. They also let you choose to receive the notes as an email now (way better than the other options, in my opinion). Hope that helps.
