Chinook! You got a status update?!!! I am still showing application received! I am so depressed now!!!

I have sent several emails and gotten responses but without any F or B numbers AT ALL!! What am I doing wrong!!

Sorry to hear that! I emailed Buffalo on July 11 , asking for a file number in the event that I need to communicate with the office going forward and they replied on July 13 with a File number.

I debated whether or not to even send an inquiry, but thought I would roll the dice. I guess I got lucky.. Hope you hear something soon! Fingers crossed for you...

This Is the responce I got this morning about my medical exams not being recieved after my wife contacted Ottawa yesterday to have them sent to Buffalo again.

The results have been located. We will contact you for the next stage in processing.

I want to thank Rinnerz for all the help with this situation.

YAY... so glad for you two. I was worried when I got your message on FB this morning, but didn't have a chance to reply before work. Hope you get your PPR soon!

Thanks my friend! I emailed them again last night. I begged for a file number so I hope that my desperation finds the eyes and ears of a person who has had enough coffee and who's husband/wife felt generous and sent them to work with a "smile"!!!

Wishing you the best.

Today is one of those days I wish CIC would rescue me with a PPR email. Ugh!

Not yet. Still waiting. I'm thinking about ordering CAIPS notes just to make sure they processed our change of address requests and see where the file is sitting. I am thinking I'll wait a couple more weeks. I'm just worried that they'll send a PPR to an invalid email address because they didn't process our change request.

Keep me posted on your progress though!

melyn2223: congrats!!! (I'd like to say I should be next, since our timelines were so similar, but I've come to learn that their order of processing makes no sense at all!)

I got a VERY FAST reply from Buffalo that had some interesting info! I got an "F" number and this info:

Your application is in process. We are unable to provide a date when the processing of your application will be complete.
Please do not compare your application to that of others as each situation is unique.
e-Cas is for applications processing within Canada only.

Immigration cases being processed in Visa offices outside Canada use a system different from that used to process similar applications in Canada. As a result, the e-Client Application Status (e-CAS) does not reflect the status of cases being processed in Buffalo.
Do not use the CIC e-Cas on-line change of address system. Your new address will not be downloaded to your file in Buffalo.

Does this mean that ecas is useless???? I am SO CONFUSED!!!!

We got a similar reply from Buffalo regarding Ecas, but people are obviously getting updates through it. So I say, they just don't know what they are talking about it.

yes Ecas is useless if you want up to date information regarding your account. It's not reliable in terms of some people will get updates and others will not. Some people dont get any updates and go straight from application received to decision made (and get the decision made after they receive PPR) So dont rely on it or put to much faith in it.

I am discovering that a lot of things in Canada are confusing and disorganized! And to think that once I believed that the U.S. had the most screwed up and pointless immigration process in the world! I think the U.S. is probably the easiest country of all to just walk into and stay and work...what a joke!!!

Buffalo likes to throw that automated response around a LOT, but it is only partially true. We all know how unreliable eCAS is, but we also know it does get used to show some (a few) vague updates for outland applicants.

See rjessome's post the last time someone brought this up: "Well actually, this is only (partly) true for AMERICAN consulates/visa offices as they are the only office with fully functional (or the most functional) GCMS operating. But still, that is a bad response because e-cas is NOT just for application processed in Canada. Very misleading."
