My file was also transfers to Ottawa on JULY 7 2012. IT was in process before Buffalo closed. MY ecas says in Process April 9 2012. Donot know where my file is now. Contacted my MP this week he will get back to me next week. I am wondering if you r going to redo ur police certificates as its been over a year they were issued.
I hope you hear something from your MP soon. I would only redo medical & others if they instruct you to.
Apparently our waiting time prior to Buffalo to Ottawa transfer doesn't count anymore. But since you were already In Process from Buffalo, they might just extend your medical for another year. I hope you don't have to spend that $500.
Good luck!

Congratulations!

If you are outside Canada, you need to come to Canada. Here is a list of all the ports of entry that offer immigration services: http://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/contact/listing/indexpages/indextype38-e.html

If you are inside Canada, you may either go to a port of entry (land border crossing) or you may call the CIC call centre and make an appointment to land inland - that usually takes 2-8 weeks, depending upon the inland office.

Note that to use an airport you have to have flown into Canada.

You will need your passport, your COPR, your counterfoil (visa) if you have one, and if you will import any goods, you will need your B4/B4A forms, listing the goods you are bringing when you land as well as clearly separated information about any goods you will bring in to Canada in the future as part of your one-time settlement ("goods to follow").

I hope that helps. You may wish to take your sponsor (or someone else with whom you are comfortable communicating) with you if you are concerned about communicating effectively. They don't ask a lot of questions: have you declared all your family, do you have any criminality issues and what goods are you importing.

Thank you so much. Computergeek.
I have another question. The letter from Citizenship and Immigration says dependents cannot arrive in Canda before the principal applicant. My husband sponsored me to immigrate to Canada, and he already is a Canadian citizen. Currently we're living in USA, and he is working in USA and cannot leave work right now. Can I land in Canada first by myself? I'm not sure if I'm a principle applicant or dependent. Thanks a lot.

You are the principal applicant (your husband is the sponsor) so you're ok to land by yourself. Good luck and happy landing :)

Just got passport request on Thursday, without an interview. :D :D :D
My timeline was as follows.
Application received May 22
Sponsor approval Jul 20
VO requested scan of passport Jan. 17th
website updated today to we began processing application on January 16

from what i could see it seems like it took the office almost 6 months to look at the application and one day to approve it.

What's the quickest that anyone has received the COPR's after sending in the scan. I happen to be flying out of Toronto for the weekend and will be back next Monday. Any chance of receiving it by then so that I could just land then?

Hi there,

We just got word that our file has been transfered to LA recently (didn't tell us when).
We filed back in September of 2011 so it was transfered from Buffalo- to Ottawa- and now LA...
Last we heard from them in January 2012 the interview had been waved and they requested some further information so we sent that to them asap.

Questino being: I know it's normal for applications to be sent to LA for the last process but how long has it taken other from when it was transfered to approval? And did the approval come right from LA or does it get transfered again to Ottawa?

Thanks!

Usually it seems to take LA about a month, but every case is unique. I've never heard of any case being transferred back from LA to CPP-O. I suppose it could happen, but the US offices are capable of wrapping up your file.

Can you believe we actually received AOR (Acknowledgement of Receipt) today? Surprising since they say they are still working on November cases and mine is 4th Jan. *does a dance*

FINALLY some good stuff after the fiasco I've been through since May.

Hi everyone...looking for some answers to this question if anyone could help I would be most grateful! Once you receive your sponsorship PR approval (fingers crossed...i don't want to jinx anything!) how long does it last? I've that it's as long as your passport is valid for? is that correct? If so, whats the process to renew your PR status when you get your new passport?

Thanks! :)

You mean your COPR?

It is valid until your MEDICAL expires or your PASSPORT expires, whichever is first.

You just get a new passport and then send a letter to Immigration in Nova Scotia (I believe) and let them know.
