I hope they do some status update for you.

The crap they are giving by saying "currently doing BC" is hopeless. I don't know what sort of background check they do for a person who has not travelled outside on India. I can see it might take some time if there is foreign travel. But again foreign travel cases are finalized within 75 days.

It's purely a matter of luck to get a good VO. If your VO is good then your file gets through quickly. If your VO is someone who does not want to do the work and like to give all the policies mentioned in the manual to escape, then you are pretty much f@!#ed up.

They have my wife's PP for 5 weeks now and eCAS still says "Application Received", hoping we hear something soon, our timelines are pretty close to each other.

Sounds good.. I know their E71 was a very popular phone.. and still valuable... and E73 is just a newer model than the E71.. I know few people who crave the E71 (speciallly in India) and I've not had experience with E73, but I bet its similar and better

I actually opened the link posted above... and was filling the form.. got bored... but I was thinking of a worst scenario..

I was just ***thinking*** and a question popped up in my mind... What if I don't goto India to bring my wife. She speaks 0 English... meaning she cay say just "Hi" and "Hello"... and of course "Thank you....", she is from a village of 6 families...

How hard would it be for her to land ALONE because of communication issue?

How well can she read English.. I always find airports(most of them) are quite good with signage so if she can read and follow that I don't think it will be that bad.. but if this is her first flight experience the littlest things can seem overwhelming.

Another thing is that there will be so many passengers on the flight she is bound to find someone that can speak the language.. speak to her and find out how she feels about flying alone.. and go from there

I remember what happened to your PPR... you didn't get it in your hands until after one whole month. and yes IPS did hold your PPR for sooooooo long... I hope they don't do that to your PPT that would suck!!!!!

It's funny. They also hold on to your passport request letter for one month. IPS loves anything related to your passport

My husband always comes up with something like how the post office loves him so much they hold onto his mail until they're ready to let it go of it... to make the situation lighter..

its really frustrating until the pp is in his hands.. thank goodness there is a tomorrow!!

She can read well enough for being in a village and only have done upto GRADE 7.. but the issue is what about the Immigration Officer? How is she going to communicate with them? I know she is very confident about flying alone, but I truely feel I should accompany her, and because she is so understanding.. she knows the situation right now.. so she is thinking of saving me some dough .. but I am 95.5% sure I will go and bring her my self...

Getting to all the way to Toronto won't be a problem for her... but the only issue is... immigration officers questioning her in ENGLISH.. and she is just gonna STARE at him and be like ???

DNT my friend, you are not alone..most of ppl who fly from eastern europe/ china etc do not speak english.
Let me explain how easy it is regardless..since you are in Toronto and she will land @ Pearson ( i can only talk abt Pearson due to Toronto being multicultural )
They have IO's handy who can speak tamil, hindhi, chinese etc..the most commonly spoken languages hence no issues with Immigration.

Last week my friends mother in law came to toronto for her daughters delivery...no english..and no issues at Pearson...questions were asked in Tamil and she replied.
Remember this is not only for landing ppl, it is the same issue for all Visitors...and Toronto has made it hassle free for visitors who don speak English.

Hence, due to the diversity of Toronto they always have interpreters for most common spoken languages in Toronto.
Trust me landing is a piece of cake...

and I live in Scarborough (Markham and Sheppard area)

We should meet up some day!!!!

If people feel safe about posting their locations (intersections) please post.. we'll get an idea of where everyone is... and if one day when I'm really bored.. I might make a graph with everyone's locations and post it here for us to see.. (just an idea.. not sure if it will ever get executed.. )

btw FebPR.. I used to LONG time ago around in the year 1997-2000 I used to deleiver news paper (THE STAR) in the buildings by your area.. 5450 Yonge St... and few buildings around it... I used to help out my uncle with it.. and it was fun waking up at 4 am... but thanks for reminding me of that area.. and my younger days lol...

Knowing ENGLISH is not a mandatory requirement for a Permanent Resident. Visit most of the SIN card/ Health card office in and around Scarborough area and you will be amazed to see that in every office they can speak Hindhi and help you.

Knowing English or French IS A MANDATORY requirement for Citizenship.

Good to know... yes so far almost all of us are from t.dot and area.. I remember this thread has seen a time where many people were from B.C. and AB.. and now the trend is for ON... its how I feel
