Re: Spousal sponsorship (with Canadian Children)

I apologize, perhaps I was not clear in my post.
I am living in Canada & my spouse and children are living in Africa.

I would bring the kids but they are too young to live away from their mother (especially the 2 yr old one). I cannot go live with them because I do not have a work permit for the country they live in.
My wife applied for a TRV but was refused ion the grounds that since she has a spouse in Canada, she was not likely to return to her originating country.

Unfortunately there is no expedite process. Good luck - I hope the processing of your application is completed soon.

I got my PR in 2012, landed in Canada in the same year on my own, my partner stayed in my country. We decided to apply for the sponsorship so he can come. Mailed the file a week ago and as per Canada Post it was received on the 26th of January. I have not received any update from CIC nor CAS to track the process online. Does anyone know what should I do to know the status of the process? Is it normal they take long, how usually they take to get back to the sponsor to notify they started the process? I'd like to get the CAS so I can keep track of it.

Thanks!

What do you mean by your "partner"? When you landed in 2012 were you married or common-law with your partner, and if yes did you declare them on your own PR application?

Hello Guys,

I need help regarding my spousal visa application. I have 3 questions:

1.) What document checklist should I attached to my sponsor's documents, IMM 5491 or IMM 5443?

2.) and for my documents (as sponsored spouse)....I will attach "DOCUMENT CHECKLIST 3905e" specific to the Philippines applicant, am I attaching the right form?

3.) With regards to attaching the evidence or attachment of my answer on IMM 5490, should I attach it in this form or should I put it in another folder marking "proof of relationship"? I am really confused in this part. What do you think is the best thing to do? or what did you do with your application?

Sorry to bother you again guys, but I need more help...please please please...

Many thanks to everyone for their helpful information..It really helped me..

Hello Everyone,

We were not common law nor married, we started our relationship on March 1st 2011, I became PR and landed in Canada on August 16th 2012, we got married on November 18th 2015 and filed our sponsorship on January 26th 2016.

I tried to track the process online (cic website) by using my last name date of birth and receipt number but there's no results :(

It may take a month or two before you will get access to review your status.

Thanks :o

Will I receive any notification by mail or email? with a CAS number? would that be the response already notifying wether I am eligible or not to sponsor my spouse?

Hello Guys,

Please help...

I just want to confirm if I am right with my understanding on Question#6 of IMM 5490 which says:

6.) Give any additional details describing the circumstance of your first meeting with your sponsor.

I am confused if:

Does this question refer to the circumstance of our first meeting in person?

or Was this pertaining to the circumstance of the first time that my husband & I communicate? In other words, how my husband & I know each other?

Please help... :)

Hi! I was wondering if someone would be able to give me some advise. My husband is American and I'm Canadian. Our application is Outland and he's permanent residency is in progress. I was able to speak to CIC and they now the FBI check and police certificate. They said that they didn't require anymore documents. We checked the application on-line stating the they sent us correspondence 4 days ago.
I was wondering what other information would they ask of us after everything has been submitted. Do they notify you in writing to provide them with my husband's passport?? It's been very stressful and we just want to have an idea on what they would like.
Thank you in advance for your assistance. :)

It's hard to say what might be in the letter. You'll have to wait until you receive it. There are many different things CIC could be requesting. It's really hard to say since each application is so individual.

Your husband won't need to submit his passport since he's visa exempt.

How does CIC provide you with permanent residency? Do they make you book an appointment at boarder crossing or at the airport? I'm hoping that our application process ends soon. It's been about 11 months since we applied. Thank you for your advise.
