I received SA today via email, my husband's application package was sent to Manila office instead of Abu Dhabi. I thought it was pretty much clear in the application kit that wherever the country of residence is, it should go to the nearest visa office. My husband's home country is Philippines but he is currently working in Saudi Arabia right now so we prepared the application package according to the one they have in Abu Dhabi. Now I don't know where to start, should I contact CPC Mississauga to raise my concern? Please help. Thank you.

Be happy po your application was sent to manila and not in Abu Dhabi...processing period is much faster in manila office..

Hi, i'm wondering if someone can help me. I applied outland for permanent residence through family class sponsorship in November. I moved over to my partners parents house in May and I am currently on a tourist visa in Canada while I wait for approval. We got SA in early January. It was then transferred to Ottawa. Last month I received an email from CIC stating that my police check wasn't the original and that I needed to send in another one, which I did. Since then I have heard nothing but I just checked the ECAS this morning and for the first time in months, it's changed! It went from "Application received" to "Application for permanent residency in process". Does anybody know how long it takes from here? Will I be waiting for much longer? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

You're on the home stretch! On the Ottawa spreadsheet, nearly everyone has gone from In Process to Decision Made well within a month, and many within a few days, so hopefully yours will go along the same lines. Here's the Ottawa sheet if you want to take a look:

I have a question for the veterans here. In my experience, CIC is definitely not working FOR us but against us. If I were a customer of theirs (which I actually am since I paid them to do work for me and also pay income tax) I would have fired them long ago for inaction and incompetence (lost items I had to resubmit). According to their own dates on ECAS, our application sat there 5 months after my SA. After they required more documents (proof of my residence here), we rushed them to CIC and they sat for 2 more months. Now they tell us that our medical report is expired, we'll have to get another. All because they took their sweet time, now WE have to pay more and wait even longer. I called my MP's office and they said they wouldn't interfere in the process.

These bureaucrats seem to do what they want when they want, imposing all kinds of ridiculous requirements, with NO accountability to anyone!!! Besides hiring a lawyer to sue them, is there any way to complain about the handling of applications?

I called the CIC minister's office and was told I'd have to send an e-mail to the minister. Did that change anything when others have done so?
Thanks for your help.

That's awesome news! Thank's for the info :D

I want to apply for an imaginary job with CIC where I tweet out people's application statuses all day every day to keep them posted :D

My upfront medical is complete with the passport I already have. If I re issue for my passport to get my spouse name added the govt passport office would issue me a new passport with a new passport id unlike the one I have provided as proof in the medical. I wonder if this would create any problem. It seems necessary to get the spouse name added nevertheless to strengthen my case. Advise plz...

Finally the status changed to Decision Made today five months after the medical. Can anyone tell me how long does it take to get the Passport Request?

Yep, it sucks. It's also one of a few workable compromises. Alternatives would be to double or treble application fees, such that they came a lot closer to covering staffing costs, or to apply a strict quota to family-class applications such that you'd have to be "invited to apply," as in the express entry system.

Besides hiring a lawyer to sue them, is there any way to complain about the handling of applications?

You would have no grounds to sue. You can't complain simply because the government takes a long time to do something, they have to act with malice. In particular, we are owed a duty of procedural fairness for our applications, but that boils down to "CIC has to have a procedure and they have to follow it," and additionally negative decisions need to be accompanied by written reasons.

Yes, from a public relations standpoint something like that really would be nice. So many "what's happening?" questions could be answered if there were a call centre (or even online system) with more direct access to our GMCS files, such that they could answer meaningful questions in a timely manner.

I'd like to get the imaginary job where I tweet 3 times a day regarding CIC's efficiency.

"Indigenous butterfly flew in the window, CIC will be closing till it is relocated".

Citizenship and Immigration Canada has received your Application to Click on the Lower Left Square. This has a bring-forward date of March 7, 2016.

It makes me nervous though coz I've said, we prepared the application package according to Abu Dhabi visa office requirement and now it was sent to Manila office. Anybody who went through the same experience? pls enlighten me :( :(
