HI My wife is PR in Ontario, Canada.
We have filed our application and sponsorship approval has been made. Now New Delhi CHC has asked for my passport and we also have submitted since more than a month .as strike is going on it will take bit longer time . Now Can My wife Who is sponsor can visit me to india? Will it affect my application?

Please send me a legal thread on this information if possible

Canadian PR's cannot sponsor from outside the country. Short trips are allowable. I do not know what is the maximum length of time a PR sponsor can be outside Canada.

Quick question: If the CIC thinks your relationship is suspect, will they call for an interview no-matter what, or are there cases where they just outright rejected it?

Good question. I think they can do both depending on the circumstance.

See
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/manuals/op/op02-eng.pdf (OP 2 – Processing Members of the Family Class)
for the procedural rules for OUTLAND applications

For INLAND applications, the following pair of documents apply instead.
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/manuals/ip/ip02-eng.pdf (IP 2 – Processing Applications to Sponsor Members of the Family Class)
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/manuals/ip/ip08-eng.pdf (IP 8 – Spouse or Common-law Partner in Canada)

In my humble opinion, the links to these documents should be a sticky in this forum section. They contain so much vital information about the way that CIC works and how they are supposed to make their assessment of an application.

In practice, CIC always calls the interview before rejection. CIC basically never rejects for any reason without contacting you first. This includes medical and criminal inadmissibility too. They will give you an opportunity to explain the situation better or present your plans for care (in medicals cases) before rejecting you.

If you do get called for an interview, make sure to order your case notes first. They will tell you why CIC thinks your relationship isn't genuine.

How does one go about ordering a copy of one's Case Notes?

I am sponsoring my spouse. and already sent all the documents(except Singapore Police report) which CPC-M has already received. My wife stayed 4 yrs in Singapore. And according to CIC website Singapore government does not give Police report without official immigration letter . Our VO is New Delhi. They told us that VO will send official letter to my Wife and She has to submit them to Singapore Police, they will then send police certificate directly to New Delhi, VO

Just wondering how long this whole process will take ? Really appreciate if any can put some light on this ?

Thanks

Any luck on this? I am in the same boat. I have sent a letter to CIC - NDVO asking them the form which I will have tio have to send to Singapore to get the Police Clearance. But they have not responded.

Thanks.

I have a question. Can a spouse be refused entry into Canada if anybody in her immediate family has a criminal record. I am only referring to her father, brother's, mother or sister. Thanks

As far as I know, CIC doesn't ask for criminal history of the sponsored spouse's family members in the Immigration Forms. So, I would say that it doesn't come into the picture.

Welp, parcel went in the post today around 9 o'clock. Xpresspost envelope straight to Mississauga. I got absolutely zero sleep the night before, agonizing over the papers thinking "Oh god, I've forgotten something I just know it."

I probably haven't, given my compulsive nature (probably) but I'm still gonna bite my nails to the quick until some sign of processing gets back to me.

Thank god I have work for the next few days to distract me from my neuroses.

Hello everyone.

I am waiting for my PPR and hubby and I just purchased tickets to take a trip together in August 8th abroad.
I forgot to consider I'll need my passport for the trip but in the other hand I have no idea (as everybody else) when the PPR will happen.
Can anyone tell me what is the usual term/time the visa office give you to provide passport when they request it?
Thank you so much.

Can anyone please give me a hand? I need to contact Manila Visa office, does anyone here know a direct number to contact them?

Thanks in advance!

Hey!

My wife and I got married back in 2011 in Canada. She is Dutch and Im Canadian born. We filed for our outland Spousal sponsorship back in January to Vienna..she was living with me in Calgary at the time (from January to June)...she has since returned to Holland for a few months to work and be with family and friends.

My question is she wants to return to Canada asap to be with me while we await the message from Vienna (for approval hopefully)...

are there restrictions on her returning to Canada as a visitor in August (I believe the visitor time max to be 6 months without a permit (ie work, school))...

but is there a time frame she needs to be outside of Canada for to reset her status?

Also, we were hoping we could just drive down to the border (Vancouver based now) and cross back over when and if she gets her PR notification. Is this allowed? This is obviously barring an interview in Vienna.

Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.
