thanks for trying to make me feel better CanadianJeepGuy :P

You have no idea how relieved I feel now that I know what to do!!! What I meant by help was not CIC though, I did not even bother calling them, I tried Aide-Juridique hoping to get some simple info (like what u guys told me in 5min) but they would not give me answers cos I was not IN montreal when I contacted them (lol?) and I also found some volunteers in Mile-end who supposedly do exactly that, but they answered after 2 months and the "Immigration "specialist" Lawyer" did not enlighten me at all lol :P

I have the feeling that I can actually fill out the forms on my own now (I hope :D I do it right haha ) the 14mth wait and worry that something can go wrong will be my only problem if I can manage that! ;D

In all likelihood you will do everything perfectly and CIC will either lose your stuff or request documents they already have.

Welcome to the machine.

awwwwwwwww c'mon :P :P :P my worst worry was me - don't get me doing cartwheels @ 6am now that I finally figured that I could manage it and was actually getting my anxiety under control so I can sleep :P :P

A complete application with no red flags (like tuberculosis or a criminal record) will likely be processed much faster than 14 months. Include all fees at the beginning, i.e. don't wait to pay the right to permanent residence fee because if you wait it will add 2-4 months to the process. Make sure the photos are exactly right so they don't have to request correct photos. Email a copy of the CSQ to the VO when you get the CSQ. With luck you'll be done in 5-8 months.

Your words are wise and true!

REALLY :o 8 months?

He is definitely criminally clean, and i really doubt he has any tuberculosis. :D

I will keep an eye on the pics, I dont see them saying that there is a date limit for them so maybe I will go with him here in Greece and have them taken with my supervision to make sure they are correct.

wow, you are very encouraging, ;D ;D ;D I need to get a job FAST in Montreal so I can get those fees paid and the thing going.

Guys you made my "morning" and trust me it has been a veryyy depressing last 5mths in this other planet I am surviving in! THANKS! :-*

I took the photograph specifications with me to the local photographer and they made sure that they match the actual pictures.
They had two people to check with rulers. Mine had *better* be correct after all that.

Their complaint won't be the size now. It will be that they prefer mat to high gloss.

I think I read somewhere that the pictures have to be within the last 12 months. Check your country specific guide. If you get them and are sending them within the next few months I guess it wont really matter though.

Anyone here applying in Montreal, Quebec? Does anyone know how to apply for CSQ – Québec Selection Certificate? What are the requirements?

Try asking/looking on this thread:

LOL! ;) (Or that the facial expression isn't serious enough)

Quick question about translation of documents (ie, birth and police certificates). Does it matter where the translation is done, as long as it is a certified translation? Sponsored spouse needs to have these docs translated but it will apparently cost close to $100 each to have this done in her home country, which sounds exorbitant to me, even factoring courier costs from the translation centre to the spouse's home in another city. Since everything has to eventually be sent to the sponsor in Canada anyway, can't the sponsor get the translation done here instead? Police certificate will be the original (in Spanish) and the birth certificate (also in Spanish) will be a certified copy. I believe the going rate here is about $25-$30 per document, and there won't be any courier costs as the sponsor can easily go and pick them up. Many thanks for anyone who can advise on this.
