Spousal sponsorship

My opinion:
First, no-one should include ALL their chat history. IRCC says 10 pages max, I think.

Second, go through first time filling out and collecting but including only the basics of what they ask for (that you have). THEN, go back and read over your app and see what you didn't have/couldn't include, and if there are / appear to be any gaps in the basic story.

In your case, based only on what I read above, you MIGHT conclude that there is not much info about your relationship before you started living together, and you've only been living together for 3 months, so perhaps that's thin. If so, THEN think what you could provide that would be best to supplement. If you met online and never saw each other until september, chat history would be pretty important; if you met in person and visited each other in person a lot before you moved, pictures and that stuff would probably be stronger.

Use your judgment as to what makes the best case for you, WITHOUT snowing them in with info. Just what you need to fill the gaps.
Thanks - I will take that into consideration. We did meet once in person, we have many photos from then, and of course spoke everyday virtually.

Spousal Sponsorship - Outland
Submitted request letter and necessary RRF documents to VFS Dubai last week. Yesterday Tracker updated to application 'closed'. GCKey updated to Final Decision - 'Your application has been approved. Check messages below for more details.'
No new message has been posted.
Yesterday, I received message that decision package is at VFS Dubai for collection.
I can't get down there to pick up the letter for a while but a assume all completed now?

Questions, if anyone can advise
1. Will a letter be posted on the GC Key? Is that the same as the letter in the decision package?

2. Assuming the package has the COPR, can I have a short visit to Canada without 'landing'? Daughter's graduation, so want to visit for just 3-4 days and officially land with my sponsor in July 2025. (UK passport so have an ETA)

Unauthorized work and visitor record extension

Hello everyone, I need some help regarding spousal sponsorship. We have been married for few months now and we just got our marriage certificate. My wife is applying for inland spousal sponsorship for me.

I had few questions. My pgwp expired in the summer and I worked couple months unauthorized (on visitor record)and I want to come clean to ircc and I will be eligible under public policy which will still give me admissibility(waives the problem of being inadmissible due to overstay/unauthorized work). I am not working the job anymore.

My visitor record expires next month and I don't think we will be able to apply for sponsorship before my visitor record expires. Will disclosing unauthorized work in visitor record extension application cause any problems since I will be extending that before applying for spousal sponsorship for us.

I hope I could get any advice regarding this since we will be applying without a representative.
Thank you in advance for anyone willing to help.

Hi,

Asking for my friend

My friend is married and her wife has work permit which is expiring on January 17, 2025.

Also, they are going for trip for 2 months, leaving on January 17, 2025. They already submitted her PR application.

My friend is a permanent resident.

Presently, the PR application is considered as inland.

Questions:

Wife can come back to Canada, while the application is still processing?

What will happen to the Inland PR application?

My friend already receives the AOR. Should they apply for bridging work permit?

Thank you

They should postpone their trip.

  1. The main determiner of whether she can get back into Canada is whether she has a valid TRV or eTA. If she doesn't, there's no chance that she will be let back into Canada. If she does, she will probably be able to return without any problems, but there is always a risk that the officer will not let her back in. If she is not let back in, the application will be considered abandoned and cancelled (see #2). This is a small but always present risk because she does not have the right to return. I would suggest not to travel unless it is necessary and keep trips shorter. Having a work permit or maintained status as a worker (see #3) would decrease the risk of not being let back in, but it can still happen. Although dual intent is legal in Canada, it's ultimately up to the discretion of the CBSA officer to decide whether to let non-PR, non-citizens into the country.
  2. If she gets back into Canada with no problems, nothing would change for the PR application. But if she can't get back in, the application would be considered abandoned, and your friends would have to start over with an outland application.
  3. Yes, the PA should absolutely apply for the OWP for Sponsored Spouses (SCLPC) pilot program. This will give her maintained status and allow her to continue working if she wants. Hopefully, it will be approved quickly.

Hi, I had a question related to Part B question 2 on the IMM532E form (linked below for reference).

The applicant has family here already, but they're unaware that she's married. If they were to find out that she is, there's worry that they may become violent or cause problems for the PR process. So my questions are: do we need to list them in that relevant section? And if we do, is there any way we can add a note to tell them about our concerns?

You should fill out the section with all family members already present in Canada that aren't on your Additional Family Information form (spouse, parents, children, siblings). They shouldn't be contacted or find out about the marriage because of their inclusion on either form.

Another section in the same form asks if your close family, friends, and children know about your relationship. You can explain there why certain family members don't know. IRCC should respect your privacy and safety concerns.

The PR can only be valid for as long as the passport is valid, so the PA will need to get a new passport prior to landing. You can update this info via webform.
