Hello there!
I am a girl Mexican
I have a two-year relationship with another man Mexican, we arrived in February because he was offered a work permit LMIA and I arrived in Canada as a tourist, with him on February 4. On February 28, the laws for Mexicans changed, requiring a visa to enter. In my mind, I had 6 months free to be with my boyfriend here, on July 8, we got married and on August 1, I submitted my IMM5710 application (Application to change conditions, extend my stay or remain in Canada as a worker) before my 6 months ended. In November, I received the application to do my biometrics and on December 5, I received a letter from the government denying me the application, for 3 reasons: X] An application for restoration must be made within 90 days of losing temporary resident status. You are not eligible for restoration of your temporary resident status because your
application was submitted after the regulated 90-day period. Since you no longer hold temporary resident status in Canada, your application for a work permit will also be rejected.
[X] You are a person in Canada without temporary resident status who is not eligible for
restoration under Section 182 of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations.
[X] You are a person in Canada without legal status and, as such, must leave Canada.
immediately. If you do not leave Canada voluntarily, coercive measures may be taken against you.

I already booked my flight to go to Mexico and try to apply from abroad with the IMM1295, for an open work permit outside of Canada. My question is: should I have done an extension in addition to the previous section? My status expired on August 5 and on August 1 I submitted my application, wasn't I supposed to be on time?

First you post your question in the wrong section and took me a while to understand what you were describing.

This is NOT family class sponsorship. (since neither you nor your husband is a PR or citizen of Canada)
I think you need to post your question to the visitor section or foreign worker section.

I believe that you incorrectly try to apply for work permit??! Before you reach the end of your visitor status, you should have apply to extend your stay as a visitor.

You can just "extend your stay as a worker" suddenly because you were not a worker to begin with.

I am guessing that you try to apply for SOWP It depends on what kind of work permit he has. I am not family with SOWP for spouse of closed work permit holder.

Hello I applied for common law PR in September 2024. I got my biometric request on 13th December and completed the same today. I was wondering how long does it take to get request medical records and overall PR ?

Hi all, I have applied for PR as a PA under the Family class outbound spousal sponsorship program on 16.09.2024.

I have been to Canada before and have an active Temporary visit visa as well as biometrics till 2028 (shown in GCKey). They still sent me a message asking for biometrics payment, in my application I have clearly stated my UCI so they did know that it is valid, I have payed not to delay the process since the communication was very slow. Will this cause any issue?

I also noticed another peculiarity, none of us (sponsor or PA) got anything that I can consider AOR. I did got many emails with application number and UCI in them however none of the emails stated nothing like other AOR email example I saw here, strange. Also the sponsor till today got not a single email whatsover.

The 3rd strange thing is that since the day I got the medical request my eligability in tracker changed to complete, but in GCKey it is still under processing, this was already 2-3 weeks ago. I have also got pre arrival services email 2 weeks ago and have passed the medical which changed in both tracker and GCKey to complete.

Do you think there mightbe a problem with the application? the fact that sponsor got 0 updates is warrying me. Also my application progress doesn't match others in the forum, which worries my too.

Any info that will help me understand if things are going ok or no is much appriciated.

Thanks a lot.

All PR applicants must give biometrics anew, so this is normal - you will have to go and give them. Yes, even if you have ones that are still marked as valid.

Has IRCC asked any one to refill forms imm 5669, 5406 and 5562? They are all digital.
The web link which the IRCC has emailed in the pdf letter for these forms, takes me to the PR portal where the initial PR application was submitted.

When I log in to that portal, I just see a line showing the initial application as submitted. Should I click on "Create New" application to make these forms 'appear' and fill them again?

If that doesn't work, download the PDF forms, complete digitally, and submit electronically.

I have not received an email saying "Approved in Principal" but what I see in the email they said it is very close to finalization and the only thing pending is Canadian address confirmation, picture, and an undertaking that I have already done. received the following communication, not sure if this is AIP.

Good news! We are ready to finalize your status as a permanent resident (PR) in Canada through our secure online Permanent Resident Portal.
To complete the above you will be asked to:
  • confirm that you are currently residing in Canada
  • provide your current mailing address in Canada so that we can mail you your permanent resident card
  • upload a photo in a digital format that will be used for your permanent resident card.
this is portal 1, your application has been approved so you don't need AIP :)

Hi Everyone!

I am a Permanent Resident and planning to sponsor my future wife (fiance). My query is regarding social assistance. I registered with Employment Ontario to find a field job (education and previous experiences related job). I do have a full time job right now. Does taking employment assistance considered to be social assistance? Should I ask them to cancel my registration just in case?

Thanks

Hello everyone

I applied for Permanent Residence under the Family Class - Spousal Sponsorship program. AOR, Biometrics, Sponsor and applicant's eligibility have all been done.

Yesterday, I received a Request Letter from IRCC asking for additional information, specifically:

"Please provide the current residential address for yourself and your dependent family member (if applicable). You must report any changes to your address, telephone number(s), and email address immediately throughout the processing of your application."

However, my residential address changed after my application submission, which I had updated IRCC via a web form...Infact, the request letter was addressed to this new address I had submitted.

This situation has left me confused. Should I submit my current residential address again in response to the request letter to ensure compliance, or can I disregard this step since the updated address is already on file with IRCC?

Thanks

I'm applying from outside Canada and living together with my wife since September when I moved abroad to get married to her (wedding was in November). Dating for close to 2 years.

Question about proof of relationship, question 7) asks "are you and your wife living together?" This would be a yes, however would it still be appropriate to go grab all our chat history anyway, as if the answer were "no"? Is there such a thing as providing too much info? I know on the IIRC website it says to only give the evidence that they ask for that applies to your specific situation

My vote is grab it so you have it ready if questioned but don’t go around giving extra info that wasn’t asked for. I think it rarely helps. (That’s my general advice even independent of the IRCC process)

“if someone asks you what time it is, don’t answer by telling them how to build a clock”

My opinion:
First, no-one should include ALL their chat history. IRCC says 10 pages max, I think.

Second, go through first time filling out and collecting but including only the basics of what they ask for (that you have). THEN, go back and read over your app and see what you didn't have/couldn't include, and if there are / appear to be any gaps in the basic story.

In your case, based only on what I read above, you MIGHT conclude that there is not much info about your relationship before you started living together, and you've only been living together for 3 months, so perhaps that's thin. If so, THEN think what you could provide that would be best to supplement. If you met online and never saw each other until september, chat history would be pretty important; if you met in person and visited each other in person a lot before you moved, pictures and that stuff would probably be stronger.

Use your judgment as to what makes the best case for you, WITHOUT snowing them in with info. Just what you need to fill the gaps.
