The Primary Applicant - not the one sponsoring - needs to have their own account and submit the PR Application through that. (

Thanks. I think they asked for the MIL proof because it was getting close to the end of the deadline for the MIL and they hadn't received anything. Fortunately, I had the proof and also it's all resolved now.

My vote is grab it so you have it ready if questioned but don’t go around giving extra info that wasn’t asked for. I think it rarely helps. (That’s my general advice even independent of the IRCC process) “if someone asks you what time it is, don’t answer by telling them how to build a clock”

Not disagreeing but curious where you are getting your data for this? Can you share?

I wonder if the confusion you’re feeling is just the feeling you get when you know what is the right thing to do, you aren’t doing it, and you’re struggling with rationalizations that try to do the impossible — turn a wrong into a right. I can’t imagine a lawyer gave you that advice. I’m not a...

I read sometimes of people waiting to activate their COPR until they actually officially land and move. This is often done when someone is visiting Canada as part of a househunting trip (from a country like the United States that does not require a separate visa and can simply enter as a...

IMM 5562 - Travel History Gaps - file now w/LOE or wait for FOIA (USA) Response?

Thanks! I'm going to go with the "they didn't ask for it, don't give it to them" camp. Hope we're both equally successful! Canada, here we come!

IMM 5562 - Travel History Gaps - file now w/LOE or wait for FOIA (USA) Response?

Ok, got it! I might suggest a bit of a UI enhancement like "if it applies [per additional forms below]" but I'm grateful for your answer here!

IMM 5562 - Travel History Gaps - file now w/LOE or wait for FOIA (USA) Response?

Thanks. My spouse (Primary Applicant) is indeed an American citizen living in the USA. The IMM 5562 is under the "Please fill out these digital forms online directly in the Portal." but it doesn't have a specific red asterisk * or the word (Required) next to the form number. That said, I...

IMM 5562 - Travel History Gaps - file now w/LOE or wait for FOIA (USA) Response?

Hi, All the paperwork is ready and just waiting to click "submit" for an outland spousal sponsorship application from the USA. Only thing is there might be a couple of missing gaps in the travel record because of land crossings which have no stamp and lack a reasonable paper tail the further...

Thanks for info on this. Yes, we have a house hunting/community trip coming up next month, are working a "punch-down" list ahead of selling our home (planning for Spring, 2025), actively downsizing (selling stuff on fb marketplace, ebay), plan to move with our 2 cats, have a letter from family...

    Spousal sponsorship

Hi - great forum, lots of superb information! So thanks for putting this all together. My question today is about LoE addressing financial support since I (the Sponsor) am currently unemployed as I'm taking time off to write a book. We have substantial savings and investments to support, and I...

Date to return to Canada - Citizen outside CAN

So far, I have just put down "AFTER ACCEPTANCE OF THIS SPONSORSHIP APPLICATION" - do you think I should add something like "estimated date Nov 1, 2025"? I feel putting a date down is somewhat presumptuous right at the time of application. Also when you say "you can add proof midway" -- do you...

When attaching documents such as Banking and other Financial statements to meet "Proof of Relationship", is it enough to show the first couple of pages (that has the names of the Sponsor and Primary Applicant on them together) or should every page of the financial statement be included? I ask...
