Hey Guys,

I need your help in regards to obtaining travel document from Islamabad. My wife landed in Canada on March 06, 2016 and then she flew back due to some family emergency and her PR card has not arrived yet.
Now I am thinking about applying for a travel document from Islamabad and I am not sure how long it is taking for them to process the travel document applications. We will be in Karachi but can my wife and I fly to Islamabad and then get a travel document in person or do we have to fill the application and then send them to Islamabad?
Please advise whether if its possible for us to visit the Canadian Embassy in person in Islamabad and get travel document and secondly how long it is taking to process the travel document applications. Thanks!

She can mail or go in person to the Islamabad VAC.

can i sponsor my husband if his in another country without status? or does he need to go back To his home country

As mentioned in your other threads, you have a very complicated situation that will undoubtedly require him to return to his country...eventually.

Here's one of the processing manuals that CIC uses. Start reading on page 18:
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/manuals/op/op01-eng.pdf

Because he was NOT admitted lawfully to the U.S., it doesn't appear that he can apply from there.

Thanks for the reply. So if we both go to Islamabad, can we get travel document the same day on her passport? Or do we have to wait?
Secondly, do we have to fill up the form before we go to Islamabad? thanks

Another quick question ladies and gents. I'm assuming that as I live in the UK, my office will be London, is that right?

I applied for my spouse on 15.04.16 and AOR was recvd on 05.05.2016, now ecas is still in process on my side but it is now updated that a mail is sent on 23.06.16 and consider delay in deliveries before contacting cic.
On my spouse side ecas is application recvd.

What should i assume its file refused or sponsorship approval..

i've sponsored my wife and we have not heard anything from cic since april 2016

what it says on their webesite is the following
permanent residence
1.we received your application for permanent residence on december 14 2015
2.we sent you correspondence acknowledging receipt of your application on april 21 2016
3.we started processing your application on february 22 2016
4.medical results have been recieved

since then we not received any other notices..

does anyone know how the visa office is assigned for an outland application? I live in a country different from my nationality (american living in germany). I saw in the past you could choose your visa office but seems this isn't an option anymore (or is it?). Anyone know how they choose?

i'm sure this has been asked recently but i could only find answers from several years ago so apologies if it has been answered already.

Now, the option to choose visa office is cancelled and applications are sent to the Visa Office in/closest to your Home Country.

Hi guys!!
I applied to sponsor my husband in february 2016 through the São Paulo VO. I received SA on april 6th and soon after my husband was asked to submit new PCCs. They were delivered personally on june 17th and have not heard anything since. In the past I asked them if it is a good idea to make the payment for RPRF but they said to wait until they ask for it. I'm now thinking I should make that payment. Has anyone gone through anything likr this too?? I mean it hasn't been that long....not even 6 months yet...guess it's just anxiety!!

If you are British, it will go to London or Ottawa.

If you aren't British, it might go to London but would most likely go to the VO for your country of nationality.

Why would you think it's a refusal? Unless you have a reason for not qualifying as a sponsor, you will be approved as a sponsor. Though it's possible this mail is a request for additional information, it is most likely your sponsor approval.

You are still well within normal processing times. CIC will not contact you unless they require additional information or are requesting the passport.

They usually choose the VO of nationality but it's possible it will go to the VO of residence. There is no way for you to know until CIC forwards the app on to the chosen office.

Not sure why they told you to wait to pay the rprf. It is better to pay it to avoid delays. They will refund it if denied.

Hello House,

Is there a time frame or waiting period between landing and being able to sponsor my spouse?

Thanks.

Why didn't you add your spouse as accompanying to Canada in your application?

Since you immigrated as a skilled worker there is no bar to sponsorship and I believe you can sponsor your spouse now, provided your spouse was declared in your application and he/she underwent a medical exam.

She did medicals and was listed as non accompanying along with my daughter.

Can I sponsor both of them now?
