No, she doesn't need to go anywhere to register the marriage. As long as you guys have the marriage certificate and it is legally translated into Engish or French, you're good to go.
Oh thank you very much :D
I just asked cause I saw a case that was a refusal because the sponsor didn't updated his marital status when landed on Canada.

That's a completely different. The sponsor got married before landing, and therefore misrepresented himself/herself by declaring themselves as single, when in fact, they were not.

By saying "landing" do you mean the last time the sponsor arrived on Canada or the first time with pr card?
My wife has returned to Canada few days ago and didn't say anything about she got married on his last trip to brazil.

Is it mandatory for the Sponsor to write "Relationship Essay" for Sponsor Questionnaire [IMM 5540]?

Landing is when you first become a PR, when the sign your COPR, stamp your PR visa (if you have one), and you officially become a PR. Every time after that, you are just a PR returning to Canada, you aren't landing.

Hi all..

I have a query. Its regarding the name in my passport. In my passport, the Given name(s) alone is present, Vinita Arvind and there is no Surname

My husband in in Canada and will be sponsoring me. When i came across the generic application form, it says..'name as per travel document'.

So since as per my records, i don't have a surname in passport, what do i type in the surname column? Or shall i put Vinita in Given name(s) and Arvind in Surname?

Reply to the same is highly appreciated

Many thanks

Not mandatory to write an essay.., but after answering all of the relationship based question at length, we both wrote "cover letters" for our application(s) and after reading the GCMS notes every month, various details from these letters were "quoted" by the officer in the notes - so, it seems to be a good idea to write something addressing issues that may be considered red flags

It's unusual that your Surname (family or "last name") isn't listed.., but that said, In my opinion you should do as you've indicated - it looks like you go by Arvind as your Surname, and it was just a mistake by your passport issuing agency

Just one more question:
It's mandatory to send letters from my parents, my wife's parents, friends...?
And what about a letter from my wife? It's needed.
How can I do this?

Not mandatory for married applicants, but including letters (emails) from friends showing knowledge and support of your marriage is always a plus. Your wife's application would benefit from a cover letter, even if only formally/briefly addressing any details of the application - in my opinion

I had a similar problem my name is first R second F last D in my passport they put a line across surname and under name they put F and given names D R so when I did AINP and got my PR CARD my name is F D R...

I have been in Canada a long time and have had several work permits and they were all RFD but when I did my AINP / PR they changed it to FDR so even if you write it the correct way, they might change it to what they see on passport.
